BYO Printmaking Collaborative’s 15th Anniversary year culminates with an exhibition celebrating the breadth of its current members and past collaborative works, on view in the Alumni Gallery at Moore College of Art & Design from March 21 – May 9, 2026. Co-founded in 2010 by Katie VanVliet ‘07 and Lauren Tapp (Fischer) ‘07, BYO Print opened as a shared printmaking studio in Philadelphia, with a mission to keep artists printing on their own time within a reasonable budget. Tapp and VanVliet built BYO Print with a foundational flexibility that has allowed the community to adapt and grow as new members bring with them fresh ideas and goals for their practice. Reorganized as a nonprofit in 2023, BYO Printmaking Collaborative fosters collaboration between artists, printmakers and the public by providing access to a professional printshop. BYO Print is located on the 5th floor of the Paradigm Arts Building, at 12 North 3rd Street. This collection of works on paper, sculptures, and handmade books is curated by alumni members Claire Folkman ‘09, Kate VanVliet ‘07, Lisa Imperiale ‘09, TJ Kimber ‘15 and Rhonda Babb ‘92 and features the work of BYO’s Studio Artists as well as past collaborative and curatorial projects, featuring: Ellyn Womelsdorf, Christiane Moore, Erik Ruin, Jenn Manzella, Mike Sgier, Nicole Saltzer, Emma Foster, Bill Brookover, Jude Bigboy, Lucy Henderson, Mara Elliott, Marchelo Vera, Reece Farness, Ted Mosher, Celia Connaire and Laura Murdoch. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, March 20, 5-7pm, at The Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design. @thegalleriesatmoore @moorecollegeart @moore_finearts @helicoptersandribbons @defaunicorn @erikruin @j.l.manzella @msgier @nicolesaltzer @efosterart @bill.brookover @jude_bigboy @youseelucysart @mlellow @nontoxicprint @reecefarness @tedmosherart @blackhaireddemon @lkmurdoch @thehopesymbol @clairecatharine @tj_kimber @kvanvliet @liifa13

Need some printshop sanctuary in these pensive times? We are dusting ourselves off from the new year transitions and gearing up for a strong 2026 filled with camaraderie, collaboration, and people power. Join us Monday night (pending our ability to move about the city post snowstorm) for the first Intaglio Club of the year. This program and our Second Sunday Open Hours will resume their normal schedules in February. $40/session for full studio access, with a focus on intaglio practices including etching copperplates, printing on the presses, and drypoint collagraph with tetrapak. We share skills during Intaglio Club, but attendees should have some experience in the medium. RSVP required by DM or email through our link in bio. 5-9pm Third Mondays of the month. We’re also happy to share that our building’s freight elevator is back in service, allowing full access to our shop for all folks! Hooray! Public hours like these are made possible with funding from the Philadelphia Cultural Fund (@philaculturalfund ) and the Joseph Robert Foundation. Thank you!

Today is the final day to apply for the ALMANAC portfolio! Co-curators @jesswiththe_mess and @kvanvliet are excited to see your work and consider contributors for this special portfolio, to be published by @byoprint for the Collective Futures Festival in fall 2026. ALMANAC: valuable information for *these times* is a bit unlike a typical printmakers’ trade portfolio. We will be asking accepted artists to produce double-sided print works that will be bound into an artist’s book. Additionally, BYO Printmaking Collaborative will be scanning all the prints and publishing a facsimile edition for public distribution. BYO Print and the curators are actively seeking additional funding for the production costs and artists stipends, and at present, there is no cost to apply or participate. Contributors will receive one of the artist book (portfolios) in exchange for their edition of 30 prints. This call asks for editionable printworks, and can be traditional printmaking (silkscreen, relief, intaglio, litho, etc) but also risograph, letterpress, offset, photography, handmade paper, and digital archival works and whatever alternative means you use to create a multiple. Text and writing can be a part of the work. What we’ll be guiding accepted artists to exclude is digital reproductions of existing works and AI generated or altered content. We’d like the editions produced for ALMANAC to be the original work. More information can be found on the application page, BYOprint.org/opencalls. The application is fairly simple - we hope you’ll consider the prompt and apply! Remember, you don’t need to outline your edition in the proposal, just any brief writing that addresses the themes or even just your artist statement, is enough.
