New year, new practice.
I’ve been struggling to make work that feels honest and true to myself since I finished my MFA in 2016. Maybe it was the pressure, the institutional ideology, the heart break and/or loss of any sense of self identity. Then there was 2020 and everything since. But, I’ve not been able to create work that feels like it is “good enough” to show or talk about in almost a decade.
I’m done with that. I am just going to make things and share them with you. I want to relieve myself of the stunting pressure that comes from the fancy “art world” to make something poignant and deep, and just make shit that I like. Ask me what it means later, I don’t know right now.
Here is a chicken. I have had chickens for years. Hens don’t need roosters. Drawing with thread is cool.
