Hello! 👋 I’m Adam Wish-Werven of @larrywishworld and I run Bumpy (AKA Bumpy Label, Bumpy Records, etc) 📛 Running this indie label is important to me because one of the things that brings me the most joy in life is being an available vessel for Music, both as an artist and as somebody who helps other artists get their work out into the world 🎶 It makes me feel really good to try my best to represent other artists and the Music they have trusted me with! I feel like I am being of service and that I am paying it forward, which is something dear to me because I have always been very grateful for the times in my career when I felt uplifted by others 🌟 This is also why I try to keep this label very “Artists-First”. When being trusted with someone’s work, I like to have some sort of in-person/remote meeting where we talk about their expectations and wants for their project: Is there a specific timeline in mind? Do they want physical media? What kind(s)? Do they want their music on streaming services or not? Do they need help finding mastering services? Help with artwork? Help with $? Help with show booking? 🎟️ Releasing music is such a fun, fluid, and No Rules process, that I think it’s cool to personalize it for everyone instead of sticking with too rigid a template 💫 That being said, this is a non-genre record label, and submissions are always open! DAY IS HERE This song, “Only Day,” started as an improvisation with @caerickson , and the words were, well, just mumbles. When we ended up adding additional vocals on top, I had to create lyrics that matched the shape of those not-quite spoken sounds. It’s an interesting exercise, letting the subconscious lay something down, and then give voice and meaning to it afterwards. It feels like an inside out process, trying to reveal something that is obscured. Like walking into fog. This track dissolves as it goes, sinking into a sea of bitcrushed pieces on its way out. To me, it feels like dawn. A new day that holds the weight of the night before it. Visuals by the incredible @mikeysnakes , working in-camera with lights and prisms to create these surreal textures… though we did employ a little editing magic to intersperse my head and the trees. “Only Day” is the closing track on “a veil, a prism,” out now on @bumpylabel . Thursday night was so magical. I can’t imagine a better way to usher “a veil, a prism” into the world. Big events are only possible because of the collaborations of so many people, and I have a litany of gratitude. Thank you to: @thecedar for welcoming me back in a full-circle way to perform @theonlyjamestaylor for being one of the first to hear this album and believe in it and book this @kenanserenbetzmusic and @zackbaltichmusic for the most beautiful and intentional opening sets Eric Hohn for making everything sound incredible @larrywishworld for running the merch table featuring the impressive @bumpylabel catalogue and helping with a thousand loose ends along the way @glam.with.gabriella for my incredible makeup @notsting for helping get my patch show-ready @caerickson for helping with a little bit of everything over the last few weeks @peteromorrow for setting up Q Lab and running projections day-of like only a true pro can @mikeysnakes for the most amazing visuals, created in camera with prisms over the last months @samwagnerphotography for taking photos 2, 4, and 6, and @mikeysnakes for photos 1, 3, 5, and 7 Finally, to all of you who attended, or sent well wishes, and listened from afar, thank you.
