His DJ sets feature choice pressings and artists that make it clear that his passion and knowledge of music runs deep. He’s also known to hold down the pocket on drums for multiple musical projects including @laamarmusic and @unstableshapes When not performing, James is a master curator. Whether it be through his eight years working on the booking team at @firstavenue or his current role as program director at @thecedar , James is dedicated to creating spaces that feature and develop musicians. As we continue to stand in a heavy moment with our city and state, @hifipopup and @motoisake will be donating to rent and food assistance efforts organized by Iglesia Dios Habla Hoy (@dhhchurch ) in South Minneapolis (link in bio OR we will have QR codes to donate to these mutual aid resources at @motoisake this Saturday). You are a supreme righteous dude. @knolsjtate is another righteous one whose sick snare sounds make this record slap. Thank you for your guidance and humor in the studio. It’s one thing to make new friends as an adult. Another to make yourself vulnerable as the creative process does. But I know everyone in @unstableshapes poured themselves into this record and I hope you give it a listen. It is with much joy that we announce the upcoming release of our debut full length album “In the Light”! A labor of love, one full of community and collaboration. An exercise in patience truly. I could not be more excited to share what these songs have become, put in the hands of musicians and artists I so admire. I will save the gushing for now(as is my habit), but I have so much gratitude for everyone that lent their musical voice and vision to my humble tunes, principal among them my dear friends @nat.harvie and @theonlyjamestaylor There is no better space to sing and let the songs sing than @icehousempls so please mark your calendars! This will be your first opportunity to hear these songs live in “album format” and get your hands on our run of limited edition…VINYL!!! I promise you when I was a tween listening to the @weezer blue album on cassette tape I had no dreams I’d ever be here in the small print sharing a bill with them. Certainly not as a singer/songwriter leading my own band. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, life is weird and long. Pretty cool to peak as a middle aged dad 👴🏾however unlikely and unexpected. Thanks @mnyachtclub :) Seeya y’all on the island!

2024. Played a lot of music and traveled to some cool places and read a few books and caught one fish and welcomed two new pals to our home. All with @itismeash by my side. 🥂

Attention, attention: It is with great honor and privilege that we welcome TWO new queens to our humble castle. Please say hello to Poppy and Pepper. AKA Ms Popadopolis AKA Popsicle Stick AKA Pepperoncini AKA the Pep Squad. Their reign has been but a few short weeks but it’s been full of playtime and the occasional cuddles. It is a huge adjustment going from an elderly cat to two kittens under 1 but we’re surviving and thriving and loving the love they give. Special shoutout to our new friends at @pethavenmn who made the adoption process so easy and special. Cannot recommend them enough for anyone looking for a new cat or dog. ❤️ 🐈 🐈 ❤️

wow. 9 years ago today we shut down Holy Mountain. what an incredible 3-year run full of ups and downs and lots of good times and fuzzy memories. I’ll always take this anniversary as an opportunity to thank anyone who thought it was worth playing on our stage, or booking a show or party in our room, and everyone who helped keep the Mountain running day to day. you’re all saints in my book.

It’s been a summer full of outdoor shows for @laamarmusic kicking off with Art-A-Whirl @indeedbrewing in May and capped off last night headlining @amswedinstitute Cocktails at the Castle. In between we had a bunch of great nights at breweries and barns and backyards and parks, enjoying the best of Minnesota summer. Big shoutout to @claredoylemusic joining us for a couple of songs - I can’t wait for everyone to hear what she did on the LAAMAR record. Our next @laamarmusic show is OCT 5 supporting pals @wearethewillows Album Release at @greenroommpls 💚 COME THROUGH the always incredible @thenunnery kicks it off. Solid week of hiking, and sightseeing, and Scotch, and jumping off rocks into mountains lakes, and navigating streams to canyon swimming holes, and hairpin curve driving, lots and lots of driving. South Dakota, you’re alright. Wyoming, you too. Beautiful, in parts. And best enjoyed with family. ❤️⛰️🦬
