This month we’re excited to welcome Tati Arbelaez @queridita to spin along HiFi Popup residents @gradynotgrady and @mikepifernyc . Tati brings with her not only amazing taste, but a unique ability to unearth cosmic gems from across the galaxy of music, and weave them into a warm blanket of sonic delight. All vinyl all night, on a vintage Klipsch sound system! Moto-i will be serving top shelf ramen, sake, and signature HiFi cocktails to fuel you through the night! Come early, stay late! 🍜🪩🍶🍿

🍜 SATURDAY @motoisake 🍜 @djbluefunk DJ Blue Funk is a rare groove DJ, record collector, & co-founder of the Nitty Gritty (@thenittygrittympls ). He is returning from DJ dates in Tokyo with an armload of records he is looking forward to playing on Hifi Pop-up’s famous all Klipsch Sound System!

🪩 SATURDAY 3.28.26 @motoisake 🪩 @phriz_b Phriz (Farah Frayeh) is a Japanese-Jordanian, Minneapolis-based DJ, photographer and graphic designer, known for his eclectic mixes, event flyers, as well as documenting the underground dance scene in Minneapolis. He has both played and photographed various events locally and beyond, including House Proud, Communion, The Great Beyond, Freak of the Week, Wax Appeal, and Hifi Pop-Up. You can catch him playing everything from disco, funk, and jazz to hip hop, house, and techno.

HiFi Popup 🔜 @motoisake on Saturday March 28th!! This month we have something very special planned: a Tokyo Record Special! Renowned local selectors @djbluefunk and @phriz_b have just returned from a month in Japan and brought back an OBSCENE amount of wax, specifically to share with you at @hifipopup . Chris and Farah were both raised in Japan, and in addition to being world class DJs with incredible taste, they have a deep connection with Japan and Japanese culture. Their sets will of course include rarities from Japanese artists, but also hidden gems and tasty treats from across the globe, found during their extensive tour of record stores in and around Tokyo. Needless to say, we are overjoyed to have them guide us through an evening of funk, jazz, disco, house, and more alongside resident @mikepifernyc . The full vintage Klipsch sound system will be in effect as always!

@motoisake will be pouring their award winning sake’s, as well as a few signature cocktails only available at HiFi Popup! Start with some classic Ramen, and end the night with miso popcorn on the dance floor 🍿🪩 See you there! 🍜🍶🗻🇯🇵

We’re excited for @samcassidy86 from @smallhours_mpls to join us this weekend! Sam is a co owner of Small Hours- a HiFi wine bar in Northeast Minneapolis. He’s been collecting records for 20 years and DJing for about 10. He shares an affinity for sharing music via big horn speakers with the HiFi Popup set, and plans to bring a wide range of music to play. Sam will be joining residents @mikepifernyc and @gradynotgrady for another night of deep listening and funky movement. 7pm sharp at @motoisake , come early to grab a table! 🍶

HiFi Popup returns to @motoisake on Saturday February 28th!! We’re so excited to have @samcassidy86 of @smallhours_mpls join residents @gradynotgrady and @mikepifernyc for a night of rare groove, disco jazz, funky, and more! Sam knows a thing or 2 about records as a long time DJ and tastemaker, in addition to being the musical force behind Small Hours. @motoisake continues to nail it as the best hosts in the game, and have even made some HiFi Popup specific drink specials! Where else can you take a dance break while eating fresh edamame and sipping on craft sake?? Come early to get a spot, stay late to keep it hot! As with our event last month, we’ll be supporting mutual aid groups with donations, and will have QR codes on display for easy access to rent and food assistance through @dhhchurch . This is a no-cover event, so please consider joining us with a donation if you are able.

@hifipopup and @motoisake are very much so looking forward to a night of decompression and community while listening to the selections of our first guest of 2026, @theonlyjamestaylor James is a gifted performer. His DJ sets feature choice pressings and artists that make it clear that his passion and knowledge of music runs deep. He’s also known to hold down the pocket on drums for multiple musical projects including @laamarmusic and @unstableshapes When not performing, James is a master curator. Whether it be through his eight years working on the booking team at @firstavenue or his current role as program director at @thecedar , James is dedicated to creating spaces that feature and develop musicians. As we continue to stand in a heavy moment with our city and state, @hifipopup and @motoisake will be donating to rent and food assistance efforts organized by Iglesia Dios Habla Hoy (@dhhchurch ) in South Minneapolis (link in bio OR we will have QR codes to donate to these mutual aid resources at @motoisake this Saturday). Hello friends, @hifipopup and @motoisake are excited to welcome seasoned record collector and vibe curator @theonlyjamestaylor to the wheels of steel for our first event of 2026 this Saturday, 1/31. As we stand in a heavy moment with our city and state, we’re holding space for our neighbors — especially those navigating heightened uncertainty and stress right now. There are many ways to support Minnesotans and immigrant communities during this time. @hifipopup and @motoisake will be donating to rent and food assistance efforts organized by Iglesia Dios Habla Hoy (@dhhchurch ) in South Minneapolis (links in @hifipopup bio). Since December, @dhhchurch has distributed over 19,000 boxes of food to families who have had difficulty leaving their homes safely, and they are now responding to more than 27,000 requests for support. They also welcome volunteers to help pack and deliver food. If you’re able, we encourage you to donate or give your time.
