Our Hiroshima book is on the point of being printed! The 200+ A4 pages of Hiroshima War Requiem feature the eye-witness reports of singers, including the soloists (and Bill Britten), plus words from those particularly involved in making the whole project happen. Including - of course - from Gavin, ‘Maestro-san’.
The book will cost around £15, plus postage and packing for those unable to pick up their copies in Poole at a BSC rehearsal. Anyone may order…whether or not you went on the Hiroshima trip. Please place your orders via the dedicated email address:

On Saturday 28 March Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus are joined by the esteemed Salomon Orchestra to perform Richard Blackford’s new work, The Black Lake at Lighthouse Poole. Inspired by the great Welsh novel One Moonlit Night, The Black Lake tells the story of a boy’s passage to adulthood whilst growing up in a remote village in North Wales. Richard Blackford’s music captures the beauty, sorrows, elements and mysteries that surround this community who unite through music and song in times of sadness and joy.

Just published by Goodmusic Publishing, this new work for large forces will be premiered as part of an RNLI Benefit Gala on Saturday 11th July in the Lighthouse Concert Hall, Poole - with the combined choirs of Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Bath Minerva Choir, with soloists Sophie Bevan and Gareth Brynmor John and the Salomon Orchestra conducted by Gavin Carr. The program also includes the Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes and Vaughan Williams’ epic Sea Symphony.
