At the beginning of this year, I held a special screening for the two short films I’d been working on the last several years. What a thrilling and terrifying experience watching your work in front of a live audience in a movie theater. And how satisfying when you hear that same audience react, laugh, jump, gasp and then applaud at your work. It’s a pretty surreal and satisfying feeling. It’s also so validating hearing everyone’s feedback afterwards and then realizing that I’m not a talentless imposter fooling around, but I might actually know what I’m doing… might. 😅 I am so grateful for my collaborative partners and our amazing crews for their hard work and dedication to bringing these stories to life. I cannot do what I do without their expertise. I am forever grateful. A special thank you to all of you; my friends, my family, and my audience for your continued support, encouragement, and kind words. I greatly appreciate it as it truly fuels me to keep creating. We make movies for you, the people, for you to connect with the stories and characters, to be entertained, and to hopefully leave changed in some way. I want to share this video that I made this past year that I’m super proud of! I was the Producer and Creative Director on this project, and I am very pleased with how it turned out. It’s unfortunate that we even have to make these types of videos, but with how many mass sh00tings there are all over our country each year, we have to be informed and prepared. I worked with this client for over a year, starting with creative development in February 2023, scriptwriting in June 2023, and pre-production in October 2023. We filmed the first week of January 2024 and delivered the final product to the client in April. They just released it this past month. It doesn’t usually take this long to make a training video, but working with such a sensitive topic, we had to make sure everything was done just right. I’m extremely grateful to my amazing team for making this video as great as it is! Here’s some extra special shout outs: • To my incredible Director and Editor, @chansquires for her amazing vision and intricate, intimate directing style. I loved watching her work with our actors. • To my amazing writers, @itskiaramercedes and @kiri.s.case , for writing something that is informative AND engaging. The goal was always to have a training video that people don’t snooze through, but actually watch until the end, I believe we did it. • To the ever so talented Cinematographer, @osacre , his work is always so beautiful and immersive. I am always in awe with the imagery he captures. • And to my Stunt Coordinator, @ambiwextrous – she is literally SO cool! She is empowering and instills such confidence with the people she works with, truly elevating anything she touches. Video link in my stories.
