Just received a hard copy of @modernimpressionistmag and am honored to have my work featured on the cover and a lovely 14 page article written by @vanessarothe on my life and work. Link in bio to get a digital copy.
My 13-year-old son explains how he built a beehive for his bedroom. I thought it was a crazy idea at first but am amazed how well it is working. He looked online and saw that hives were around $1,000 so he was inspired by the prior art and decided to design and build one in cad software and printing parts using a PRUSA 3d printer.
Note: My son didn’t originate the idea of a hexagonal shaped indoor beehive. But designed his own inspired by other models he has seen in the market.
One of my favorite Plein Air pieces painted during the STRADA Challenge last winter. 2023 was a record breaking year for snow with more than 900 inches in the mountains.
Just a reminder that the @strada.easel 31 day challenge starts on January Ist. Go to the link in my bio to register. Special thanks to @artefexart@trekell_art_supplies@sentientacademy for sponsoring prizes.
Spent the week painting with friends at the Plein Air Painters of America show in Mt. Carmel, Utah. Hard to believe it’s been 11 years since I last painted this area. Returning brought back wonderful memories and fresh inspiration. Here are a few paintings from the week.
Here are three 11”×14” paintings inspired by the landscapes of Utah that I’ll be exhibiting at the Thunderbird Foundation for the Plein Air Painters of America annual show. The exhibition opens this Friday and Saturday in Mt. Carmel. Looking forward to reconnecting with friends, fellow artists, and collectors, and sharing these new works in such a beautiful setting.

Hard to believe it’s been seven years since I created this painting (April 15, 2019)—the day the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire. As a student of world religions and art history, creating this piece became a cathartic way to process the grief I felt at the possible loss of such a significant part of our shared cultural heritage.
In the years since, so much destruction has unfolded across the world that it can feel overwhelming to fully comprehend. This painting has remained a quiet reminder to seek beauty even in the most difficult moments—and that, like the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral, we too have the capacity to rebuild after tragedy.
February Sunset 12”x16” oil on panel. This year we didn’t have much snow but loved the composition and soft browns and violets on this cold winter evening.
