It is my honour to put forward this jar in support of Sumūd: an art auction fundraiser for Gaza and Sudan. The auction is collecting bids online until June 6, concluding with an in-person bid and closing reception at Kasko Gallery (560 Clark Dr, Vancouver) from 2-6pm on June 6. Follow the link in my bio to bid on this wood-fired stonewar jar, and see the other artworks available. There are paintings, prints, sculptures, and more. Auction co-organized by @art4gza @kasko_gallery @kaskoframeworks @jenniecane @18_percent_grey @annakasko with design artwork by @qwithings . Proceeds support Palestinian and Sudanese-led non-profits working towards humanitarian and mutual aid <3

Update! The AGM happened and the membership elected an entirely new board of directors: Lyana Patrick, Jessica Hallenbeck, Michael Scoular, Julia Aoki, and me ✨ 📣 Calling all members of DOXA Documentary Film Festival! Please come to the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, February 17 at The Post (750 Hamilton St, Vancouver). Doors at 6:30pm, AGM at 7pm. It is important that DOXA’s community determines the leadership of the society by attending the AGM and voting for a Board of Directors. “Be curious, be critical, and vote with your heart.” If you attended any films during @doxafestival in May 2025, you are a voting member of the society. Contact [email protected] in advance to ensure that you are on the membership list. I hope to see you there 🌞

Farewell for now, Park Theatre booth & 70mm projector. You are the coolest and most ominous booth I have ever visited with your escape hatch and window guillotines from the days of flammable silver nitrate prints. I hope The Park’s new operators (👀!) keep the quirky magic of this cinema, but that they also renovate the toilets <3

I’m ready for you! This Saturday, June 7 from 11am-6pm I’m opening my studio at the Mergatroid (965 Vernon Drive, Vancouver). This is a studio housewarming, the first time I’ve hosted folks in this space and my first collection of soda-fired and wood-fired works since the house fire. Come feel some pots and maybe take a couple home. Cheryl Stapleton @clayaddiction will be opening her studio, as well, and I just learned that Terminal City is having their annual seconds glass sale in the courtyard 🌞 My studio entrance is on the east side of the building, ground floor but down 2 steps. Masks are optional but very welcome. DM or text if you have any issues :)

This was my aura on May 17, my birthday. I’ve been 36 years old for one week now and it has been pretty nice. I have spent most evenings in my studio at the Mergatroid revisiting old forms and innovating new ones; I participated in a soda firing with friends and colleagues at the Shadbolt Centre; I saw Panda Bear (!); and tonight I’m going to the Vancouver Art Gallery for a celebration of Otani Workshop and West Coast ceramics. 35 was a difficult year and a memorable year. Thank you to the friends and family that have hosted me in other places (Corie in Montreal, my mom in Puerto Vallarta, Ciera & Chris in Gorran Haven, and Parnian in London), and Ryan & Yaz for welcoming me into their home when my house burned down. Thank you to all the other people who supported me in various ways, I’m grateful for all of you 🌞 I am so aware of reciprocity in friendships, in studio practice, and in work life. I’m going to carry these lessons forward into 36. Thank you @helloauraphoto for the capture 🪩

In 2020, myself and the other residents of 1034 East Pender became the human companions of Chamomile, also known as Kitty and The Prettiest Kitty You Ever Did See. On December 13, I had to say goodbye to her suddenly following an infection that did more organ injury than could be healed. She was a very good friend to me throughout the pandemic, getting grifted, friend heartbreak and romantic heartbreak, and the aftermath of the house fire. Baby potatoes being her favourite toy, I am happy to have memories of so many friends and acquaintances kicking potatoes around the kitchen for her. I miss Chamomile deeply, and everything else in this photograph. She was a checkered kitty with a checkered past. If you have stories of Chamomile, share them in the comments. Thank you Ryan for this photo of us 🌸
