Sumūd Art Auction Fundraiser—named after the Arabic word for “steadfastness” or “perseverance”—is an entirely volunteer-run auction with all proceeds benefiting the Sameer Project, mutual aid in Gaza, and the Sudan Solidarity Collective. The auction is co-organized by Anna Kasko @annakasko , Kate Henderson @18_percent_grey and Jennie Cane @jenniecane Anna Kasko (she/her) is an artist, curator and founder of Kasko Gallery and Kasko Frame Works and is of Danish, South African and Scottish settler descent. She holds a BFA in Photography and lives and works on the stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Kasko Gallery supports emerging artists while fostering accessible opportunities for exhibition and connection across Vancouver’s arts community. Kate Henderson (she/her) is a Scottish, Irish, Welsh and British settler ancestry curator, writer and artist committed to centering the voices of emerging and underrepresented artists. Kate holds an MFA in Visual Art and is Public Art Project Manager at HOST, an art consultancy run by three women from the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Kate is guided by Indigenous land and art sovereignty and follows a decolonial approach to public art planning. Jennie Cane (she/they) is a curator, writer and fine art appraiser of Irish, British, Swedish and Welsh descent. She holds an MA in art history and curatorial studies and is informed by social history, decolonial strategy, and collaborative practice. They love growing vegetables and flowers and live in gratitude and humility on the stolen lands of the Qayqayt Nation. Financially supporting those on the ground in Gaza and Sudan is one facet of a greater network of support for Palestinian and Sudanese folks. In addition to supporting this auction we hope you will commit to other actions such as PACBI, BDS, and Apartheid Free Communities, putting pressure on our so-called leaders to enact a two-way arms embargo, and calling out genocide, racism and injustice. We are excited to announce the second iteration of Art for G@za — Sumūd: an art auction fundraiser for G@za and Sud@n ❤️‍🔥 The auction will take place online from May 1 - June 6, 2026, with an in-person exhibition and auction closing on Saturday June 6 at @kasko_gallery located on the stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples in what is colonially known as Vancouver, BC. In 2025 the auction raised close to $20,000 for P@lestinian -led non-profits working towards humanitarian and mutual aid in G@za 🙌 For 2026 the auction will support both P@lestinian and Sud@nese -led non-profits and mutual aid.
