This was Teenie’s favorite song of mine. When we would be playing it live, i could always hear him exclaim, during the song, in his spectacular specifically southern soulful most joyous Teenie Hodges exclamation high pitched revery voice: “ooh wee!! Oooh wee!!” He loved playing that song, he loved me, and i loved him.
I will always hold him so close to my heart, a father figure, a protector, a real one,
family.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, I made a photo series in which I photographed musicians the moment after they stepped off stage. Almost everyone I approached agreed to my request. Some female performers declined, which, in hindsight, I completely understand but at that moment was a disappointment. Because of this, I am especially thankful to the women who said yes, and I would like to thank them for allowing me to photograph them in such an intimate and private moment.

Thank you @ajamonet for your words, your craft of them as the ones you wrote in your post yesterday, for mother’s day, rang through my thoughts & spirit, just as they are today. Choosing growth while still growing, choosing light while remembering & moving through all the darkness.
