Introducing the Summer edition of the Canterbury Courier. From our editor: “For my first issue, I really wanted to capture snapshots of the vibrant communities that make up this city. And that spirit runs through so many of the stories you’ll find in these pages. On our cover, we meet Cherry Tewfik, a Canterbury-based potter creating beautiful pieces from her home studio. Inspired by her travels, her work is both delicate and bold - each piece feeling deeply personal yet quietly striking. It’s a lovely reminder of the creativity that exists behind closed doors across the city. There’s also Denise Chambers at Café Chambers, who has taken the idea of a traditional tearoom and turned it completely on its head. It’s bold, unapologetic, and a reminder that even the most familiar corners of the city can be reimagined. Community, in all its forms, is at the heart of this issue too. We spend time with the local Canterbury Trans Network, exploring the importance of connection, visibility and support, and the people working to create safe, welcoming spaces across the city. And because no Canterbury summer would be complete without theatre, we also turn to the Shakespeare Festival. This year’s programme is designed with fresh interpretations that open up the work to wider audiences and help ease the sense of intimidation that can sometimes surround it. It’s a thoughtful, generous approach to stories that still feel alive centuries on. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on my first edition. I hope this issue finds you somewhere in the sunshine, with a little time to explore what’s happening in and around the city this summer.” #canterbury #kent

@ramsgaterecorder summer 2026 issue is here, and they can’t wait to share it with you! Their cover star is Sam Battle, aka @lookmumnocomputer , as he prepares to wow the crowds at the Eurovision Song Contest. He talks about how he went from successful YouTuber to UK representative at the world’s largest live music event, and how he plans to feature some of his famous synths from his museum This Museum is (Not) Obsolete. They go behind the doors of the new Book Hotel at The Falstaff as they look ahead to making Ramsgate a book lovers destination with a new literary festival launching in May. They meet the makers on the high street and find out more about their collaborative approach to their craft, including brand new Minnie-Mae Studio @minniemaestudio , Coco Barcley @cocobarclaylondonhandbags , Godessa Jewellery @godessajewellery , and Turner Rowe @turner_rowe_art_centre . They spill the beans on creating their first dedicated youth title, @RamsgateRising , and look ahead to what comes next for this brand new magazine. Elsewhere in this issue, they interview Formula 1 artist Colin Carter @colincarterartwork , celebrate 100 years of the Westcliff Rose Garden, shop around Ramsgate’s international supermarkets, and get the inside scoop on @creativecatalystthanet linking young people with jobs in the creative industries.
