All of us are rewriting narratives and changing algorithms! 🔦 Never imagined being an influencer of any sort, but I’ve learned that it’s our duty and responsibility. Especially for us Asians in North America, who are vastly underrepresented in Top lists and in almost all forms of recognition. 🙏🏽 I’ve also learned that it’s all about community. 2025 Gold Gala and the @goldhouseco x @billboard Founders Party. Our community is stronger than ever before. We are deepening and strengthening our bonds, our activities, and our overall impact. We have many leaders, builders and changemakers whose lights are shining bright, and are lighting others up as they cross their paths. Brick by brick, we are building and lighting our own houses, businesses, organizations, and communities. Once they’re built, as Co-founder and CEO @bingchen says, we will blow the roofs off then invite everyone in. This is what Gold House has done in just 6 short years. They’ve laid out the blueprint for the rest of us to follow. And the Gold Gala, aka the Asian Met Ball, brings together the best and brightest of us all across all domains. ‘But… it’s just a gala. Just a big party. What’s the point?’ Yes on the surface, it’s just a gala. But #IYKYK, it means so much more. It’s actually all the following: 💫 A reminder that we are excellent 💫 A platform for us to inspire each other, to showcase our progress and our talents 💫 An opportunity for us to convene and catch up with many friends and partners 💫 A chance to spotlight our successes and achievements along with those of our allies 💫 For us to build new, and strengthen existing connections to accelerate our collective impact and create abundance in opportunities 💫 To showcase great Asian brands and products 💫 Us celebrating each other, being rewarded for all our contributions and spreading joy 💫 To show the world that we belong at the top and that we are much more than what anyone can EVER box us into So kudos and thank you to the entire Gold House team for creating this event, inviting me, and working so tirelessly to uplift us all in these ways. ✨Stars were starring at the 2026 #GoldGala✨ ⭐️ Some have asked why I don’t take photos with celebrities at star studded events. My answer: I do! 💪🏽 As cool as our celebrities are, for me it’s all about the leaders who serve and uplift our communities. It’s about the unsung heroes, the MVPs behind the scenes, the folks who don’t feature in the spotlight. These are the people who guide and harness the gravitational forces and manage the environment so that stars can shine. 🤩 These are the talent managers, campaign managers, nonprofit leaders, ecosystem builders, people leaders, financiers, narrative changemakers, multicultural brand partners, frontier tech stewards, admins, and many more. 📢 It’s our duty and responsibility to ensure they are recognized and receive their due credit. Because if we don’t, they won’t. 💫 To me, these people should be celebrated just as much as the stars and luminaries we orbit. 🌌 My life is now complete! On May 4th (happy Star Wars Day), we had the honour of touring THE @neildegrassetyson around our @spacecentreyvr last week. Neil brought his effervescent energy, shared his deep knowledge of space, astrophysics, philosophy, and state of the world with our small group. 🤩 As a once-aspiring astrophysicist, I was awestruck (which does not happen often, trust) and also 🤯 as was the rest of our group. 🙏🏽 Huge thanks to @lorrainelowe_ @syadaseto the @spacecentreyvr team and my fellow board directors for making this happen. ➡️ Buy Neil’s new book: Take Me To Your Leader coming out May 12th! 👽🛸🖖🏽 📸: @kyrani

#TBT Act To Change 2025. @acttochange is the ONLY organization dedicated to ending bullying for AANHPI youth. Founded in 2015 by @maulikpancholy @rebsl @jill_matic , Act To Change provides youth-led programs and public awareness initiatives, and provides resources to drive inclusive anti-bullying policies. Last year in 2025, I attended their community leaders event where I met the incredible Youth Ambassadors @jasonliaww @ayanathephotographer both of whom are endless inspirations and provide us with rocket fuel to continue doing the work. Here are some photos from last year (and yes, I’m posting these now because last night, Act To Change held their 2026 event 😜) I also had the great honor of supporting this org in prior years with their Changemakers Summits in partnership with @hateisavirus , and I look forward to partnering more with their team @soukprida @j_d0219 to tackle online bullying in digital spaces with @asiansingaming , and more. Thanks to this org and its leaders for breaking cycles and providing tremendous support to AAPI youth. 🏮You met us at a very Chinese time in our lives… j/k ✌🏽Two weeks ago, I had the honor of co-leading the 3rd US-Canada Chinatown Solidarity Summit, hosted by @chinatownfoundation . 👦🏻 This summit was perfect in many ways. The weather, the active participants, the program we designed and the tremendous support from all our partners, sponsors and team. ↘️ At a time when Chinatowns are shrinking, losing vibrancy and its businesses face increasing economic headwinds, our work is needed more than ever. 😎 We’re also seeing a resurgence of interest in Chinese culture and rising support for Chinatowns to revitalize as a destination and to preserve, and also reinvent our cultural legacy. Chinatown is cool again. 💡These Chinatown Solidarity summits enable idea exchanges, sharing of best practices, re-imagining what could be done locally from others who have walked the talk. 🌏The support these leaders are now providing for each other across city, state, and country borders has been, and will continue to be invaluable. We now shift focus to creating systems to ensure our partners and solutions-focused alliances persist interstitially in-between summits. 🤩 Join us next year as a host organizer?? #Chinatown #ChinatownSolidarity
