May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and center mental well-being in our communities. 💚
This year, MHA’s theme, "More Good Days, Together”, invites us to reflect on what a “good day” looks like for ourselves and for those around us, and how we can better support one another in experiencing more of them.
At the same time, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is emphasizing connection through its 2026 message: “Turning Silence Into Connection”, a reminder that healing begins when we share our stories and show up for each other.
Mental health care isn’t just about awareness; it’s about connection, community, and making sure support is accessible to everyone.
We’re especially proud to be in this work alongside @NAAPIMHA , who are advancing culturally responsive mental health care and breaking down barriers to access for the AAPI community.

Youth Ambassador Program Spotlight ✨
This month, our Youth Ambassadors came together for a powerful session focused on understanding bullying as part of larger patterns of harm in our schools and communities.
Through honest conversations, scenario practice, and reflection, participants explored how identity, power, and belonging shape how we respond to harm and how we can show up for one another with intention and care. Together, they built confidence using Right To Be’s 5Ds of Upstander Intervention (Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, Direct), learning to choose strategies that feel safe, effective, and true to who they are.
From navigating barriers like fear and uncertainty to strengthening connection and community, this session was all about turning awareness into action and fostering safer, more inclusive spaces for all 💛
Shoutout to our amazing participants:
David S., 11th Grade, California 🌊 Akshan R., 11th Grade, Maryland 🦀
Here’s to leading with courage, compassion, and purpose 💪

Foundations and Futures is here! Developed by the UCLA Asian American Studies Center, this Asian American and Pacific Islander Multimedia Textbook includes 50 chapters, 1,500+ media assets, and 250+ ready-to-use lesson plans. This project is designed to transform classrooms into spaces of empathy, critical thinking, and change!
Act To Change is excited to be a community partner for this groundbreaking launch, Reclaiming Our Narrative: Presenting Foundations and Futures, on May 9, 2026, at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center. The program will also feature a keynote by Dr. Maya Soetoro, who will guide us in exploring the power of peace education.
At a moment when ethnic studies faces increasing scrutiny and books continue to be banned, we hope that Foundations and Futures can empower educators to uplift, protect, and preserve Asian American and Pacific Islander histories and instill a sense of pride and confidence in AAPI youth.
