Visual Identity – mrh architektur ag
As a new generation took over the leadership of the architectural office Matti Ragaz Hitz, the desire emerged to carry the name into a new era – and to make this transition visible through design. Over the decades, the firm had developed a diverse and sometimes inconsistent visual language. The rebranding was an opportunity to completely overhaul all visual elements and create a unified, contemporary identity.
The abbreviation mrh – long in use and well-established – became the new brand: mrh architektur. By moving away from the founders' names, the brand opens itself to future perspectives, new ideas, and evolving teams.
At the core of the new visual identity stands the typographic monogram mrh. The three letters inherently create a strong rhythm, which was further refined through custom typographic adjustments: stems and open counters were aligned to have exactly the same width. The result is a bold and confident wordmark with a clear presence.
Three short accent strokes, placed at letter height, echo the rhythm of the logo and serve as a distinctive design element throughout the identity. They are used across various applications and reinforce brand recognition.
The rebranding spans all touchpoints – from business cards and presentation templates to documentation and interior signage. A consistent and refined design language now reflects the professionalism and clarity of mrh architektur – an identity built to grow with the future.

Visual Identity – Swiss Cultural Heritage Network
The Swiss Cultural Heritage Network raises public interest in Switzerland’s cultural heritage and represents the concerns of cultural heritage preservation in the political arena.
With the name change, Bonsma & Reist was commissioned to develop a new visual identity and online presence for the organization.
The new logo visualizes the three central concepts of the name: network, cultural heritage and Switzerland. The underlying grid of 3 × 3 circles symbolizes the thematic diversity of cultural heritage, while the nodes represent the connecting element. The circular shape serves as an image container in the applications, and the pattern can be seamlessly expanded and animated.
The Univers and Genath fonts already in use have been retained, with their relationship and use more clearly defined.
The redesign conveys the strategic shift from information center to network and improves the overall visibility of the Swiss Cultural Heritage Network.

Kahnweiler & Rupf – A Gallerist and His Collector, 1933–1945
Last fall, we completed a comprehensive publication for the Hermann and Margrit Rupf foundation @rupf.stiftung in conjunction with an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bern @kunstmuseumbern
The book concept was inspired by previously unpublished archival material from 1933 to 1945, a period when Bernese collector Hermann Rupf and Paris based gallerist Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler maintained their correspondence under challenging circumstances. To highlight the archival material’s authenticity, facsimiles are reproduced in their original size, complete with accurately positioned perforations. These perforations run through the entire book block as a distinctive conceptual feature.
The project was a collaboration with Susanne Friedli, Konrad Tobler, Christopher Kilchenmann, and Urs Hungerbühler (signage) and has been published by Hatje Cantz @hatjecantzverlag

Posterdesign
The legendary printing company Uldry AG approached us to design a poster for their 60th anniversary campaign. The bold “U” symbolizes a rich squeegee stroke, a hallmark of screen printing.
Upon closer inspection, it reveals 60 fine lines, each representing a year in the company’s history, creating an infographic that tells the story of Uldry AG’s journey.
Happy Birthday!
The posters can be seen in publis space in Bern and from tomorrow until Sunday @kornhausforum

SWB – Schweizerischer Werkbund
Werkbund Schweiz Suisse
Website
The Schweizerischer Werkbund SWB is a national association that brings together members from the design and craft professions. Its strength lies in its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach. From this point of view, it addresses key design, cultural, social, aesthetic and economic issues.
We developed the new website in close collaboration with the Board of Directors and the management. The redesign makes strong reference to the great design tradition of the SWB with clear typography, a well-organised but dynamic layout and careful attention to detail.
Many contributions are presented as overlays that are layered on top of each other like physical paper. This creates a reference in the digital space to the field of print production, which has always played a central role in the SWB’s 100-year history.
The centrepiece of the site is the “Werkbrief” - the digital editorial organ of the SWB. The articles are presented in a varied grid with different sizes, which is also an analogy to a layout in physical space.
A special and very playful function is the “colour switch”. A small button at the bottom right of the page that can be used to change the entire colour palette. The individual colours are harmoniously coordinated, but can be easily adapted over time to give the site a fresh new look without much effort.
Special Thanks to the Team from SWB @julewolski Monika Imboden and Mathis Füssler. And @roger_burkhard Burkhard for his precise coding. 🔥

Cantonale Berne Jura 2023/24
Identity
For this year's @cantonale.ch campaign, Bonsma & Reist developed a series of four posters, designed exclusively with the generative text based fill-function of @photoshop
The result displays collage-like images representing the four elements of fire, earth, wind and water. The concept is a reference to the current debates about the influence of artificial intelligence as an elementary and creative component of our future.
For digital display, the posters were further developed into animated versions, with @runwayapp a video editing software based on AI technology.

NCCFN for BSC Young Boys
Identity and Art Direction
“Young Things – No Thing is Forever” is the first collaboration between the fashion network @nccfn and the soccer club @bscyb_offiziell . The collaboration came about after a failure in production of their home-kit 22/23, which resulted in thousands of unusable jerseys. NCCFN deconstructed and upcycled these garments into a new collection of around 30 different products.
Bonsma&Reist are responsible for the identity and art direction of the project, including a monogram that was used as a print pattern in the collection. All garments were fabricated in the Canton of Bern.
The collection was a great success, raising awareness of the problem of overproduction in the fashion and sports industry.
