Another feather...Funmilayo Ransome Kuti will be showing at Africa Alive! 2024, a momentous global gathering of Harvard’s African alumni and distinguished guests. This unprecedented event is set to take place on October 11-13, 2024, on Harvard’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Amongst other things it is believed that Funmilayo's Ransome Kuti remarkable story will be a powerful inspiration to the Harvard community and, especially, to an emerging generation of young Black and African women. @audumaikori thanks for always rooting for Africa! 👌👌@bapproductions @terrakulture @iamadunniade @abosedeosho @tatianassar fanta.sticks. @bukkyogunnote @his.afro.lover_ @_iyimide @patrickdiabuah @bikiyagd @_kehindebankole @oluwayemiesther @princejidekosoko @aisha_sannishittu @anwulionwochei @labakeadetunmbi @ibrahimsuleimanofficial @deleodule_ @rolandobutu7 adebayo.salami @_delala @omowunmi_dada @atlanta.bridget.johnson

One of the reasons I am in Cannes is because I was invited by the World Bank to speak on “From Pilots to Systems” — a recognition of the work we have done as one of the very few arts institutions in Nigeria with over 150 full-time employees. For over 23 years, we have consistently demonstrated that the arts are not a hobby, not an afterthought, and certainly not child’s play. The arts are serious business. Through theatre, film, hospitality, education, and cultural infrastructure, we have shown that creativity can create jobs, drive economic growth, and contribute meaningfully to national development — adding over $1 billion annually to Nigeria’s GDP through the wider creative economy we help sustain. Behind every production are livelihoods. Behind every stage are families fed, careers built, and young people given hope and dignity through work. This is the business of culture, the business of impact, and the business of nation-building. And I mean it when I say: the business of the arts is serious business.

As a Producer and Director the weight of a project can be so much on you. The money, the time, the anxiety but little things like just showing up makes the burden lighter. This was the case when I looked up in Paris and I saw @lillyafe turn up to support me. Fans and friends flew in from London and other cities in France. Wow! What a name and brand we have built. Lilian this means a lot to me and thanks to all the Nigerians who despite the relentless rain in Paris turned up in great numbers to see wire wire in Nollywood Week Paris. Sometimes it's about just seeing familiar and happy faces in a strange land @ijayonah @lalaakindoju Thank you. See you in Cannes. Congratulations to our lead @buccifranklin for his win best supporting actor and all the winners @ihuomalindaejiofor we celebrate you

Despite the many challenges we face, the arts have a powerful way of bringing people together—reminding us of our shared humanity and the stories that connect us. From art exhibitions curated by @actuallyjustyk to fashion by @irawostudio and @officialtife and Nigerian cuisine, there is so much that unites Nigerians and South Africans, and even more to celebrate together. The visit was further strengthened by a thoughtful and beautiful gift presented to me by the Deputy Minister (for international relations and cooperation) on "Mandela" and I was honoured to present her with a book written about my journey by @gbollyb and yeah see one of my favourite actors @buccifranklin #wirewire is loading. Happy workers day to all the incredible people who make the arts work in Nigeria.

Absolute honor to receive the "Global Creative Industry Trailblazer award" from The Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce and the Nigerian Immigration Service. The work we do has impact on many sectors in Nigeria and creating more jobs here and skills for our youth reduces immigration issues and their work impacts on creatives coming into Nigeria for our films and theatre festivals. Thanks to the entire staff and management of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce and the Nigerian Immigration Service.
