"Tacoma Park is a long-time collaboration between John Harrison and Ben Felton, both veterans of North Carolina’s arts scene. Harrison records as Jphono1 and once drummed for the Comas. Felton presides over an interdisciplinary portfolio of music, arts education, video and visual arts. Together they meld together organic finger-picking and space rock overdrive. In her review of Baltimore, Jennifer Kelly wrote, “Imagine a Kluster song with a creek running through it, birds chirping, leaves rustling, the seam between glossy synthetics and down home organic sounds so faint as to be invisible.” Here are some of their touchstones."

Happy release day to my eternal guy @jphono1 and myself. In the middle of the night, days after bringing Emilia Rose home from the hospital, I emailed Mike Mannix to see if @centripetalforcerecords might be interested in re-releasing our double LP on CD and also our next album, which we hadn’t started working on yet. 2.5 years later, here we are. It’s staggering to think how much has happened since then, in the world and in my life, but that’s one reason why we need records, I guess, to mark time and maybe also to bend it, break it, and step out of it. I’m proud of this one and honored to have it out on a label I love. Come celebrate with us next month, on 5/22, at the great @shadowbox_studio with buds, @whatkindofoiil and Unsaved (@harleshace and Ash Bowie). Mastered by @chuckjohnsonmusic . Poster by @ron.liberti . 💜
Happy to share the TP album "Baltimore" with you today. Thanks to @centripetalforcerecords for making this a reality.
Available on vinyl/digital.

Have a good day.

"Being one of today’s groups that can blend Americana music with synthy kosmische electronics in a way that is wholly unique and peerless, it’s always especially exciting when we get word that a new Tacoma Park album is on the way. "
Thanks for the review of the new @tacomaparknc album "Baltimore" @klofmag
"Baltimore" is out this Friday via @centripetalforcerecords

"Very different is opener Here, an acoustic tune in the vein of James Elkington and Nathan Salsburg’s All Gist, meaning it contains neat melodies modestly played with underlying subtlety, in this case in the form of gentle electronic fuzz hanging back from the guitar notes. Similar in character is the bookending Oak, which features dueting acoustics that employ lower notes to lend a slightly more uneasy feel to the music. This is a more muscular track, with drums coming in and a wah-wah guitar adding depth. The result is an adventurous, proggy piece of music that benefits from an easy acoustic line hovering over it, adding a different aesthetic to the sound."

Not many photos of Solidagos in the wild, but here’s one from last Saturday of me and Sara playing a duo show at Duke Coffeehouse. Thanks Esmé!
We’ve got a show tomorrow (Thursday) at Perfect Lovers in Durham, with Kelly Reidy, Ben Felton and Bryan Lineberry.
It was going to be our first official show until we found ourselves on that wild bill at the coffeehouse.
Sara’s bringing a piano and a banjo.
We’re all going to jam or something after our sets. Bring something comfy —kmr
. . . Circles, circles, I left North Carolina, but circle back to collaborate with Dylan, Caleb, and Ben on this project, which began as postcards. Use them for what you will, after nearly a year of discussion and revision, Rivera’s photography has taken on the appearance of portals, surrounded as they are by faces, foliage, and buildings. On the reverse, Angell’s poetry occupies these openings like lightbulbs in a tree or magnolia seeds hanging from a broken, ceiling socket . . .
A set of 10 “postcards”—or rather narrow broadsides—with poems on the back. Collages made by Ben Felton, Caleb Rivera, and Dylan Angell. Text by Dylan Angell. Original photos by Caleb Rivera. All these artists are members of the band Lightbulbs in the Trees.

Excerpt from “(flight)” I lifted the window and stepped through the skylight, filling bird seed into a feeder that swung from string. A loop threaded into a circle, tied to a laundry line, a small reward for an endless flight. Summer had been long, this time might be the last time. I imagined myself as I wanted to be and I saw myself standing still. I envisioned myself as a stranger. I had written a note in the middle of the night - you are losing the fight because there is no fight.
My dad, Bruce Felton, died unexpectedly two weeks ago at 79. Sharing personal stuff on social media still feels strange to me, but I thought some folks here might want to know. My dad made space for me to figure out my sense of humor, instilled in me a preoccupation with books and movies, and taught me through example to search for the humanity in everyone. I’m not sure that I’d have ever started playing music if wasn’t for him, the way he filled our home with it since as far back as I can remember. Still too fresh and surreal to make sense of this, he will be deeply missed by me and countless others.
So, so happy to share that Baltimore, the new album by @tacomaparknc , is coming out on the great @centripetalforcerecords on April 24th. Grateful to @jphono1 for doing this damn thing with me. More soon. 💜
So grateful to @centripetalforcerecords and @seawindofbattery for putting together this massive, three volume comp, and so grateful that @tacomaparknc is included on this first installment alongside some seriously great folks.
