“Our bodies become our protectors and so we have to shield—create some form of shield—to allow us to have a bit of a distance when needed, as well as having the sort of consciousness to do what is right.” - Nick Cave @nickcaveart Nick Cave on Grief (and Hope) in Venice @venice.art.biennale Cave Presents Seven Recent Works at the 61st Venice Biennale Words: Michael Anthony Farley @juvederm_delinquent

Etched in Brick, an exhibition. Memories don’t die, they live inside us. They change the way we see, the way we touch, what we smell. Our bones, like bricks, are designed to withstand resistance. The pressure leaves its markings. Nestled inside of Mount Clare, SW Baltimore there is a non-profit organization slowly building a creative community. Fueled by liberation, hopelessly nostalgic and fiercely methodically. Welcome to the Make Space initiative. Throughout the past 8-weeks we’ve run a homebuyer program focused on looking at not only buying a house, but how to make a home. A home that lives inside a community. A community that lives inside an ecosystem. An ecosystem that is fueled by the people inside of it. We asked 6 participants to create a visual/ installation that represented what they wanted to see, what they planned to do and what they believed needed to be shared in and about the community we are working in, Mount Clare. @makespacestudioinc Come and join us for a reception to celebrate the closing of a 8-week cohort program, meet the participants, see their work, ask questions and see what’s going on in Mount Clare. Buildings hold stories. You feel them when you walk in, energy they call it... You decide..

The studio visit is an art form in itself, but we have all had disappointing responses to our work. What’s the worst critique you ever had? What did you learn from it?
