Crochet Fashion Editorial with @knotokayclub 🧶✨ Communal third spaces for Black women and nonbinary people are invaluable, and the beauty of what exists in Knot Okay Club is no different. As a safe space for Black women + nb’s to crochet together, learn from one another, and release with each other— it looks a lot like sisterhood. Creating from Our hands, crochet specifically, is an ancestral practice that doesn’t get the credit nor visibility in luxury fashion that it should. In this past week’s news, @i_d launched their first beauty zine with @tyla as the cover star. At the launch activation, she signed fresh print issues and I photographed her in her element. The zine is soo beautiful, and sold at such a refreshing price point. At the community library event in New York City this past November, I was was in awe. So many beautiful people came together for the purpose of book borrowing. It has now led to a book club for Saint Heron publications. I’m your host, inviting you now. This Sunday, at Gladys Books and Wine Bar, we will be gathering to discuss how communal reading can influence the connection among a people, the experience of borrowing in this way, share our annotations, and finally, reflect together through a reading selection from Azurest Blue: The Life and Legacy of Amaza Lee Meredith. I had to run around and live life for a bit in order to know what to do with it.. Sometimes that looked like not having a clue, and making definitive mistakes. Luckily, innocence inherits grace. I swore I wouldn’t be back in school after my last graduation lol, but when God calls, I always answer. I’ve styled for 7 years, art directed for 4, published photojournalism for three.. and because this is New York City, I held a couple survival jobs in-between (I’m just being real 🤷🏾‍♀️). I even became licensed as a social worker in the state of New York and was practicing as a therapist at one point. I came here from the south straight out of grad school after a little whisper from above, just to try; and see. I thought I would be here maybe a year? But I’m going on seven, and trying; I have done.  Now, I am culminating all of my experience and pivoting my efforts into a unanimous career— one I figured out was possible all while trying, and seeing. Wherever my efforts stopped, God’s work began, and graciously ordered my next step. I want to say thank you to @sebjective , @akiliking , and @tiffanyreid for leading careers that allowed me to see myself along the way, at moments I was looking for real reflections of the purposes God has placed within my heart… (even if you ain’t know you was doing all’at at the time 😂). I appreciate any moment we’ve spoken or worked together. It was reaffirming. I’d also like to thank @Edythe.jai , @britts.archive , @skylxrfaith , @afriendlyblackhottie , @claireateku , @okaymae , and so many others whose encouragement has pushed me to further walk confidently in my journey. 🫶🏾 I couldn’t control the outcome in applying, but because it was His instruction that led me to do it, I knew that my only job was to take the next step in faith and He would take care of the rest— and that He did!  I was accepted into Parson’s School of Design in 2025, and am currently pursuing a degree in Fashion Marketing and Communications, with a focus in editorial print. lol ok I finally feel my age, so now I can post about my most recent birthday. 😅 I have spent the last few years figuring out how to celebrate myself, especially when I’m single, and come to find out? a series of micro celebrations spread out over time > one big hoorah. That’s how I like it. Grateful because of this approach I got to be w my people from different corners of my life and let them show up for me for weeksss <3 we partied, we ate, we toasted, we cried, laughed, we danced, prayed, and rested. I feel loved. I’m so blessed!! 🥹

I photographed one of the funniest people on the internet, @lavelledontae and friends, during New York fashion week for his sold out show at @rodneycomedyclub . A solid 2-for-1, we had @michele.ok , a dying breed (!!! Iykyk) to open us up. 🤎 Needless to say, laughs came and flowed effortlessly. Duval is proud. 🌴🤞🏾

I photographed @chicohndrx for NYFW at the @stolenarts_ pop-up. We put the champagne glasses aside for a second, and hit the street to join in on the thriving and lively world of underground New York fashion. Seen flying off shelves were the custom blinged out belts that intersect pop culture and nostalgia. As social media stars and local celebrities have largely begun to mold the new landscape of fashion influence, a community of viral friends were on the scene as well. Several live streamers brought underground live and direct to the world. Marcus, entered the chat as one of them with his first ever stream under @memehouseproductions .
