What happens when the worlds we play in and dream in don’t make room for us? Our identities are shaped by the stories and images available to us, yet digital spaces have too often erased the richness of Black experience. This exhibition brings together the creatives who refuse that erasure, embedding Blackness directly into the code, visuals, and worldbuilding of virtual media. Their work codes new futures, writes new narratives, and expands what digital representation can hold. Here, Blackness isn’t an afterthought—it becomes the architecture, imagination, and vision shaping the virtual realm. One thing about me? I’m gonna go ALL OUT! 💯 Black Lines of Code: The Dine Out Experience, Spa Day Nail Bar & Mixer 🥹💚⚡️✨ with thanks and support from the absolute legends @thesims 🙏🏾 It felt important to celebrate #Ebonix10Years in more than one way. So, with The Sims believing in my vision, I hosted a Dine Out Experience at the exhibition space during @blacklinesofcode . It was an intimate meal to celebrate this milestone with simmers near and far! We wrapped up with The Mixer, which hosted over 100 creators in gaming, tech, XR and fashion, to further celebrate the breadth of creativity within games, virtual worlds and the intersections into fashion, beauty and tech! I wouldn’t be me if there wasn’t a NAIL STATION 💅🏾! So, we put up the Spa Day Nail Bar so simmers and attendees could get their nails done to go play some sims! It was only right to dedicate a space in Black Lines of Code: The Exhibition, to some key contributors in my journey over the last 10 years, @thesims 💚💛✨ I’m so grateful for their continued support of me, my vision, and the exhibition. Turning the blank room, into a treasure trove of inspiration, impact, innovation and creativity that I’ve had the honour of contributing to the game and community was a true moment of reflection. Our celebration room was EXACTLY what it sounds like 🥳🤩⚡️ The room is filled with digital artworks of the new generation, redefining the digital landscape, artists coming together from all around the world. It’s a grand celebration of creativity, individuality and culture. As you walk around, you are captivated by the unique visuals, which makes you pause and notice all the intricate details of each piece ✨ Black hair, black stories, black craft, black fantasy, black beauty, black culture.. showing leaving a lasting impact on and off screens. ROOM 2 - PROGRESSION 📈 Our progression room is an exceptionally special room, as it demonstrates how far our community has come along, reclaiming control of our narrative in games and character development. The room featured 7 playable indie games, covering a wide variety of aesthetics, themes, stories and characters. Fun and interactive for all players! It was emotional watching players of all ages engage with each game in their own way, learning and experiencing different styles of play - from learning to speak Yoruba to play Snake of Orisa, to running as two Princes reclaiming their thrones. These are important stories and experiences that change how players understand themselves at a deeper level. ROOM 1 - NOSTALGIA 💿 Our nostalgia room welcomed guests with what games would have looked like if Black essence was included from the jump. This room featured the opportunity to be hands-on with retro gaming consoles, a Retro CRT TV Stack installation along with a loop of the catchiest throwback tunes and PS1 style visuals that’s bound to get you hooked by artist @viincejg ! We watched attendees transform into kids again! Child-like wonder cannot be bought, only experienced. 🎮✂️✨️ Hair & Beauty x Tech & Gaming ✨️✂️🎮 • EBONIX x TreasureTress This is just a snippet of what happens when collaborations across industries make SENSE and are intentional and their core! 🥹 Created using @unitytechnologies and Xcode, made playable at the exhibition on the @apple Mac Studio (many thanks to Apple for sending me this absolute powerhouse to create AND play on 🙏🏾), the Curly Christmas Catch 'Em All was a fun mini-game for all attendees! And no matter the score, players went home with a FREE hair product coutsey of @treasuretress & @treasuretresspopup for their next wash day! ✨️ Thank you @jameliaisobsessed for just going along with my midnight messages and ideas about how we could collab to celebrate our 10 years, providing a TON of giveaway products for our goodie bags and playable experiences, and just being a true icon as a person and friend 🫂💕✨️ Keep an eye out for the winner!
