Introducing Bissy Riva (b.1995)
@bissyriva , an American artist of Peruvian and Italian background. Bissy received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Textiles in 2018.
Bissy’s work is rooted in a fascination with the natural world, exploring the unseen structures that govern life in the wild. Bissy aims to paint what lies beyond the visible, uncovering hidden structures that shape our environment. Through her exploration of natural phenomena, Bissy draws parallels between these structures and the human experience, revealing rhythms and patterns that mirror our own complexities. Her paintings translate these forces into visual language, helping untangle and make sense of the world around us.
Her layered compositions reflect the organic pulses and vibrant energies of nature, using bold colors and shifts in scale to express the flow of life, growth, and the vibrations connecting all living things. Ultimately, her work serves as both a visual puzzle and a meditation on ecological systems. Through her practice, Bissy explores how these forces shape, connect, and unite all life, highlighting the interconnectedness of all living beings within the larger environmental network.
