As part of Butter Sessions Records’ 15-year anniversary celebrations, Sleep D peel back the curtain on their creative process. Corey and Maryos delve into two nights of extensive chats, project walk-throughs and live set demos, alongside facilitators Ryan and Will from Big Racket. With so much to discuss, we’ve spread this exciting event across two sessions. Night 1 unpacks their process of developing ideas together in the studio. Night 2 shifts focus to how Sleep D translate their repertoire to the stage for live performance. Co-hosting these sessions are Big Racket founders Ryan Powderly and Will Robertson, experienced educators and producers who run electronic music workshops across the state. Each night is ticketed separately and open to anyone with an interest in electronic music, although we recommend you have a basic knowledge of music production. We’re doing a couple production workshops from next Tuesday at Miscellania. We’ll be diving into our studio techniques and breaking down how we write and finish music. The following week will be a session on how we approach our many forms of live performance. Expect demos, breakdowns and a q&a, facilitated by our old friends and founders of Big Racket Ryan Powderly and Will Robertson. Expect informal conversation, generous Q&A time and practical insights into both production and performance.⁠ ⁠ DJ Haram is a multi-disciplinary propagandist based in Brooklyn, New York, Haram is known for her eclectic production, anti-format DJing and layman’s poetics. Her sound spans abrasive analog synthesis to speaker-knocking abstract boom-bap, club mutations and fractured echoes of Middle Eastern musical tradition.
