Electronic musician Mario Consunji (@biggesthat ) has worn several hats in the local music scene, but his latest one is the most personal yet. Known for his minimal synth project Big Hat Gang, Consunji has long been a fixture in Manila’s experimental and electronic music communities. With the release of his latest album, “Landscapes,” he takes a step outside of his comfort zone he built through aliases and monikers, and puts his own name front and center. This year marks a personal milestone for releasing music under my name. “Landscapes” is now open for pre-order thru the Bandcamp link in my bio. “Over the course of more than a decade, Consunji has transitioned from label releases to independent work, from sound design to live performance, and from niche raves to vinyl shelves. Join us on Saturday, February 28, 9pm for a night of kinetic art and sound. — Gil Kuno @gilkuno is an artist based in Tokyo and New York. Through experiments in the audio-visual and re-envisioning experiences common within everyday life, Gil aims to push people away from paradigmatic thinking. He takes a whimsical approach in subverting common perceptions of reality. Mario Consunji @biggesthat is an artist and producer in Manila who works across electronic music and sound design. Known for his minimal synth project Big Hat Gang, Consunji is currently exploring sounds and compositions away from music. Children of Cathode Ray (est. 1989) is a pioneering Filipino experimental sound art and media collective known for blending improvised electronic music, found sounds, and lo-fi video feedback. Amazing Thailand 😅 Never thought I would get this chance to perform the sounds that came natural to me, but now it makes sense. It was set in an environment that accepts it. Extremely grateful to all that made this possible 🫂

Premiering new work by @derektumala titled “Sound Of Burning” at 5-6PM today in the beautiful Unconditional Space at @wonderfruit 2025. I’ll be playing sounds inspired by combustion and Pyrocene. Directed by Derek’s research in climate change, includes studies of the sun and its effects. SOB to me, is violence and regeneration 🔥

Mario and I are premiering a new sound and light performance piece called ‘Sound of Burning’ at @wonderfruit festival in Pattaya, Thailand. Curated by Hong Kong-based curator Aditya Sathish (@everhapdie ), I developed a new work based on two of my previous projects - ‘Sounding Nature’ series exploring live audio and visual performance and ‘Eyes Melted Gold’ an exhibition on extreme heat presented at the Basel Academy of Fine Arts. Using gold mirrors, performers will act as reflectors of light interpreting on Mario’s new sound piece reflecting on the sensation of burning.
