Way back in 2023,
@chieminyc introduced me to
@gex24 That time I had no idea what documentary I'm joining in, but of course I was grateful for the recommendation and the possibility of collaborating on a project.
Then, I met Giacomo and he shared his 40 minute cut so I can understand the film and see what we're about to work on. As a fellow documentary filmmaker, we instantly felt connected like we're on the same wavelength.
I was surprised how Giacomo had access to the story, and had been filming for years in the Philippines. 🇵🇭
At that time, I really had to think it through since I'm also part, and filming for Lost Sabungeros (iykyk), I had to honestly assess if I can join another dangerous project. 🥹🧿
The threat was not from the character/s, but rather the environment we're going in.
The story of the Yamashita Treasure is something most us Filipinos grew up hearing.
And the appeal and fascination of gold is never-ending, usually connected with risk.
And the idea of filming a documentary about it, would definitely be tricky!
After many discussions with Giacomo, I agreed to come on board as line producer. But as time passed, my role naturally grew, and Giacomo encouraged me to step up as Producer. ✨
I hesitated to accept the role at first, feeling like I joined too late. But now, looking back, it was undeniably worth it, feels full-circle, and the film is finally back home in the Philippines. 🙏
Thank you for everyone who has been part of this journey! We sincerely hope you can join us on our premiere this November 21, 4:30pm at Gateway 2, Cinema 18!
