How much blame should the media get for the erosion of public trust?
For veteran journalist and the founder of Probe Productions Inc., #ChecheLazaro, the fault goes beyond the media. “I think we’re all guilty to a certain extent. Perhaps the guiltiest are the audiences, the people, because we allow it to happen, because we don’t call them out. We’ve always been described as people with a short memory. We forget so easily.”
Lazaro looks back at the legacy of “Probe” and how she helped usher in Philippine investigative journalism as we know it today.

#AnneCurtis has made a name for herself and now she’s speaking up to protect it.
In her first cover story since the outcry over a lawmaker’s vulgar comments, Curtis speaks out on misogyny in the Philippines and offers advice to men everywhere: “When men call it out among their friends or coworkers or strangers, that’s when culture really begins to shift.”
Beyond politics, the actress talks about her breakout hit, “The Loved One,” her desire to return to camp, and the directors she wants to work with next.

Jimmy LuSaque Jr. is the glue that holds all of #Hacks together. Lest anyone forget, our boy pushed Deborah to take a meeting with down-on-her-luck, semi-canceled Ava in Season 1, got that “face time” with Winnie Landell (and beat her and her ex-wife’s asses at pickleball) to get her to consider Deborah for Late Night in Season 3, and, mind you, went “gorilla mode” on Bob Lipka when the network exec tried to cut Deborah’s impassioned speech about censorship when she quit Late Night on live TV in Season 4. So then why is Jimmy taking all the Ls this final season?

The breakout single “Decode” turned #Paramore from scene favorites into a household name in the mansion of mall emo. The song was part of the soundtrack for the first #Twilight film, released in 2008. Hayley Williams and company used “Decode” to hone the darker side of their sound. It proved Paramore could come from their humble beginnings in Warped Tour pop punk and skyrocket directly to much bigger stages.

#OliviaRodrigo wasn’t wrong — it is quite brutal out here, especially if “here” is the desecrated place that is the internet.
As Rodrigo gears up to release her third LP, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love,” she’s been twirling around in the loose, fluttering silhouette, a signature of her preppy-meets-edgy style. Apparently, this was all too much for users on X and Instagram, who have been losing it, claiming that the frilly silhouette both infantilizes and sexualizes the 23-year-old star.

UPDATE: The Malacañang has confirmed that the Senate sergeant-at-arms fired a warning shot and that an NBI agent fired back.
The morning after the events that unfolded at the Senate involving multiple gunshots and a lockdown, answers about the perpetrators of and the motive behind the gunfire that rocked the Upper House are still up in the air.
The Majority Bloc led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano took to social media as the chaos ensued to reiterate its support for Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who is facing a warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court.
No casualties have been reported, but President Ferdinand Marcos has ordered the Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla to go to the scene to ensure the safety of the senators, most of whom are confirmed to be members of the Majority Bloc.
The President in a statement released late last night assured everyone that the alleged attack at the Senate was not government-led.

Operations are still underway at the Senate after gunshots were heard this evening. Reporters live on the scene quote Secretary of the Senate of the Philippines Mark Llandro Mendoza, who said perceived NBI agents initiated the gunshots and Senate security only retaliated. No casualties have been reported so far.
DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla oversees the situation. Upon his arrival, Remulla tells reporters that he is not there to arrest Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who has a standing warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court.
Earlier tonight in a live video posted on Facebook, newly-elected Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano said he and his bloc will not leave Dela Rosa.
This is a developing story.

The week’s Songs You Need to Know are packed with references to the past, tongue-in-cheek trap music, and intimate trip-hop anthems for the summer. Songs include Sandwich’s highly requested “Young Stunna” single where it acts as a callback to the bygone era of rock and roll, Cup of Joe doubles down on the syrupy melodies in “Isang Daan,” Smerz’ dreamy and intimate electronic-pop “Spring summer” where it leaves listeners mesmerized, and Hotdog serving the classic Manila Sound in “Ikaw Ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko.”

For every Filipino growing up in the early aughts, #Westlife was inescapable. The band was the follow-up to the wave of boy bands of the mid-to-late 1990s. From American boy bands such as the Backstreet Boys to *NSync to England’s Take That with their seminal hits like “Back for Good,” and Ireland’s Boyzone with “Words” and “Baby Can I Hold You.”
In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone Philippines, Westlife, now composed of Filan, Egan, and Byrne, shared how they’re gearing up for their Manila show and how excited they are to see their Filipino fans again. “Make sure you come down to the show. It’s gonna be a big celebration,” said Byrne.
