This week I did some much needed upgrading of my hardware bag and cymbal bag. My previous Ahead hardware cases lasted 13 years! I love the hard back on a soft bag. They are durable without being as heavy and bulky as hard cases. I got the next size smaller bag since I have streamlined my hardware set up live. I plan on having these for the next 13 years of gigging. Also got the 24” rolling #cymbabag from Ahead. They are great for airport travel! Check these out at your local drum shop or anywhere that sells Ahead cases!
Blessed to be teching at @stubbsaustin today. When I am going for a low tune, old school, fat back snare on an @evansdrumheads Genera Dry, (without using a @bigfatsnaredrum Steve’s Donut which I love), and I need a touch of control for the perfect sploosh sound? A pair of @rtomcorporation moon gels is my go to! I also count on @cardinal_percussion lug locks to maintain tension on the low tuning. I will say I am DIGGING this @dragonfly_percussion Medium Canvas Beater from @bigbangdistribution for that perfect old school warm punch. As always I count on my @jkdrumsystems hooves to ensure the bass drum stays put, and stoked that I always have my @kickblock.drums in my pelican for Hi Hat stands that want to scoot. I need to get their Hi Hat model. Lol! Finally having an @aheaddrumsticks Cajon Cushion handy for the rare occasion the drummer uses a cajon as a throne? Cheek saver!

When I’m looking for a specific or unique bass drum sound, I can’t say enough good things about the line of Bass Drum Beaters from @dragonfly_percussion and @bigbangdistribution . Like the canvas beater used by @_gspearson_ of amazing @turnpiketroubadours to get the “perfect” country music bass drum sound while I was covering some dates. I use this beater myself (as well as the awesome hard leather beater), but under the foot of a master like Gabriel this beater was used to sheer perfection.

As a pro tech, dependable gear, and quick load outs are essential to my craft. So I’m greatly looking forward to testing these @aheaddrumsticks Speed Nuts for Cymbal Stands.
