Tomorrow we are performing Små Spirer again, this time at Valby Kulturhus 🌱 Performances are at 09.30 + 11.00 Små Spirer unfolds as a journey of discovery, starting from a child’s own sensory experience and developing into a shared space where we connect and grow new seeds together. The audience is guided into a tactile landscape created by @baumleahy : soft cushions, vibrating pillows, colourful textiles, and organic forms that invite touching, listening, presence and interaction. The different materials can be explored throughout, by holding them, listening yo them, smelling them; evoking curiosity , sensory sensitivity and presence. Towards the end of the performance, we open the space for shared exploration, where children and adults can shape, play, and engage with the scenography at their own pace, making new discoveries collectively. Små Spirer is our first performance created for children aged 4–7 (and their accompanying adults), with a particular attention toward children with complex needs in grades 0–3 (specialklasserækker). Premiere this Sunday, 12th April at 10.00 and 12.00 @sundby_idraetspark 🌱🌱🌱 In Små Spirer we move with seeds as companions. The scenography becomes a landscape of textures, colors, seeds and roots. Cushions, surfaces, and soft forms invite touch and scent. Each element holds something to discover, and small movements shift the room. Two dancers inhabit this landscape, at times separate, at times closely connected. Their bodies stretch, curl, and unfold, gradually taking on plant-like qualities, continuously becoming and transforming. The audience becomes part of this ecosystem: the children can touch and smell the scenography, mirror the movements of the dancers, and become an active part of unfolding the universe. The work has been developed together with My Lindblad Szlavik from @kulturpilotamager and is supported by The Danish Arts Council, Copenhagen Municipality, and Amager Vest Lokaludvalg. Credits Choreography: @nanna.h.jensen Dramaturgy: @psynama Performers: @ceciliekjaer & @nanna.h.jensen Sound: @moltamole Scenography & costume design: @baumleahy Scenography & costume assistant: @fievonveer

Beyond Darkness is teaching Matter in Motion next week 💛 Begin your day with a sensorial awakening and imaginative movement practice. Sense. Feel Imagine. Become matter in motion. Throughout the week, we will explore how to move through imaginary landscapes and embody more-than-human beings. Through somatic listening, improvisation, and guided visualizations, we will tune into the body’s subtle layers and go beyond habitual patterns of movement and perception. Read more and book your spot at dansehallerne.dk Beyond Darkness is the name of the choreographic duo Nadja Mattioli and Nanna Hanfgarn Jensen. HYPOGEA premieres in less than 24 hours!!! 🖤 We’re finally here, after 2.5 years of planning, developing, researching, creating!!! Our most important period began in September during a residency at Holstebro Teater, hosted by @holstebrodansekompagni . At the same time, @nannastarck was deeply immersed at @fabrikkenffkd , crafting the large fibreglass relief sculpture that forms the visual backbone of the piece. From there, we continued into the studio at @dansehallerne with the incredible dancers @antoinettehelbing , @anelopanelop , and Britu Tränkler, developing the choreographic language; with and without clay. In this phase, costume designer @laerkebarfod joined us, bringing her costume concept to life in a remarkably short time, tailoring each piece intricately to the performers. We were also fortunate to be visited by @kirkegaardjacob , who shared material from Opus Mors — recordings from a morgue, an autopsy, a cremation, and decomposition of the human body —with us, as well as professor Mikkel Krause Frantzen, who spent time with us discussing his book Slutspil/Endgame, ecological grief, and how grief might hold utopian potential. Later in the process, our long-term collaborator @moltamole joined to develop the sound and noise world of HYPOGEA, working in close dialogue with singer and vocal performer @clairezervas on fragmented lamentations. In parallel, light designer @fogsoup shaped the lighting environment in collaboration with @nanna.h.jensen . Throughout the entire creation, performance researcher @jonaschnor has been a crucial dialogue partner, sharing their research on endings, grief, and death, challenging and sharpening @psynama 's dramaturgical work. And lastly, our warmest gratitude to Dansehallerne’s producer @pedsof , whose support, care, and steady presence have held this production from start to finish. HYPOGEA opens tomorrow. We can’t wait to share it with you. 🖤 Photos from our dress rehearsal by @kirkegaardjacob

📸 Mathias Broe We asked Beyond Darkness (choreographer Nanna Hanfgarn Jensen and director-dramaturg Nadja Mattioli) to tell us about their upcoming piece HYPOGEA, which premieres in just 6 days at Dansehallerne ✨ HYPOGEA takes its name from the word for underground structures — a metaphor for our inner underworlds'. The work, inspired by the book 'Underworlds, explores what lies beneath the surface — the emotions and experiences we are often not allowed to express, such as grief, anger, and loss. Beyond Darkness were interested in how society expects grief to be contained and resolved, while in reality, it is an ongoing process. HYPOGEA creates a space where grief can be expressed collectively and openly — as a living, evolving state. HYPOGEA by Beyond Darkness 🗓️ 19–23 November 📍 Blackboxen Seats are very limited — so please book your tickets today via the link in bio! Opening night (Nov 19) is fully booked, and Saturday the 22nd has only 10 tickets left. Don’t sleep on this 💛 On Saturday, Nov 22 at 17:00, we’ll also host a post-performance talk, “Living with Endings – A Dialogue on Grief, Death, and Performance,” with Beyond Darkness and performance scholar Jonas Schnor.

In just 1.5 weeks, we premiere HYPOGEA in Blackboxen — and we are beyond excited! 📹Mathias Broe HYPOGEA is a cross-aesthetic performance exploring grief, death, and mourning through the intersection of dance, sculpture, and music. It reimagines grief as a vital human experience — a ritual that gathers us in raw, messy, and uncontainable emotion. A wrestling with our inner underworlds, allowing sorrow to take shape without restraint, without ending. HYPOGEA by Beyond Darkness 🗓 19–23 November 📍 Blackboxen Seats are very limited — if you’re as excited as we are, we highly recommend booking your tickets today. 🎟 Tickets via link in bio

HYPOGEA by Beyond Darkness 🗓️ Nov 19–23 📍 Blackboxen 🎟️ Tickets via link in bio — limited seats. HYPOGEA is a cross-aesthetic performance exploring grief, death, and mourning through the intersection of dance, sculpture, and music. HYPOGEA reimagines grief as a vital human experience and a ritual that gathers us in raw, messy, and uncontainable emotion. A wrestling with our inner underworlds, allowing sorrow to take shape without restraint, without ending. HYPOGEA invites us to remain with the intensity and uncertainty of mourning. For those who have passed, for ecologies collapsing, for uncertain futures. Grief, in its many facets, becomes a force that gathers us, forming new collective rituals where vulnerability is shared, where mourning becomes a source of connection, laying the groundwork for necessary transformation. 🕯️ Special event: Saturday, Nov 22 at 18:00 — Post-performance talk “Living with Endings – A Dialogue on Grief, Death, and Performance” with Beyond Darkness and performance scholar Jonas Schnor.
