Celebrating victories: Green belt graduation 💚 Here I am, looking goofy, relieved, proud, touched and utterly grateful… to my senpais, to my fellow karatekais and to myself. It’s been some intense months leading up to this graduation in @enso_people_karate and it’s beyond words how big an experience this was. I am still touched, still feeling it all. Doing hard things, moving across thresholds, expanding capacities to affect and be affected and, simply, being totally and vulnerably alive together. Enso of the heart 🤍 Scroll for some impressions of the graduation. A big thanks to my dearest friend @ida.devi.terapi for capturing these moments. Trigger warning: real fighting! 1: Receiving my green belt in a haze of exhaustion and elation 2: Mokuso / getting ready 3: Endless kihon part 1 / kicking 4: Endless kihon part 2 / jumping kicks 5: Endless kihon part 3 / more kicking 6: Fighting Senpai Tobias 7: Proud Senpais 8: Love and gratitude

Super super happy to receive this in the mail, the new issue of Performance Research: On Care, in which I have my first article in print, titled ‘A Listening of the Flesh: Towards an ethics of care in choreohaptic practices.’
I’m wildly grateful to the issue editors @cuidadito@helenagrehan #kristofvanbaarle and managing editor #beccicurtis for their efforts to bring this plethora of work out despite most of it accomplished during the pandemic. A special thanks to my personal editor Kristof van Baarle whose comments made my article so much more cohesive and to the point - and for finding in it the words that eventually became the final title! Also a heartfelt thanks to @georgdoecker and @jennylydmor for valuable critique during the writing and of course to @marceloevelin whose generous work I am thinking with and alongside in the article.
I can really recommend anyone interested in the interconnections between care, art and research to check out the issue. It has contributions from a wealth of excellent theorists, artists and dramaturgs such as @amandastuartfisher #konstantinageorgelou @nienkescholts #maríaestrada-fuentes #amandapiña just to mention a few. And some f*cking cool artist pages (image 5 this post shows the work of #erikachongshuch #rowenarichie #ryantacata and image 6 #davidwoods). Check it out!
Really happy this is out! A month ago I had the joy of participating in Moving in November as dance critic-in-residence. This text is an attempt - from my singular point of view - to accompany the festival’s weave of relations, people, and events. A huge thanks to Maaria Ylikangas and the Shine on Critique project for this opportunity. Link in bio!
This is how happy I was last Friday as I passed my PhD viva 🪸
So grateful to my dear supervisors @omaoilearca and Shantel Ehrenberg, to @uniofsurrey and techné for funding my project, and everyone who supported me on this journey.
Thanks to Maaike Bleeker and Matthew Wagner for a great viva discussion of which I remember practically nothing ;)
And soooo great to celebrate with these amazing friends and family ♥️
(P.S. guess the song in the video at the end - and thanks to Helene for capturing that gloriously profane moment)
