night two: cement body, dreams concussed i was pinching myself in between music happenings on the night as i saw the creatives around me and felt held, supported, and empowered thanks for always encouraging me, nurturing me along the way and being part of this evening @anja.ngozi @assiaghendir @cobysey @jeanblairee love to @_emmalwarren_ i can't believe we channelled our experience of long covid in this way together and huge appreciation to @_specimens_ for guiding me in thru my first release, all the hard work putting out the music and playing on the night and thanks to the team at st martin in the fields i wish i could have told myself 3 years ago this could be possible - always follow your gut and remember there are many possibilities ahead we sold out the venue both nights, and sold out the tees, tapes still available on @firstterracerecords bandcamp and you can stream it the experience has taught me a lot and i'm grateful to everyone who joined us each night thanks again to @hayett.belarbi.mccarthy on set design, @jasperdarius on sound, @joe_magowan on filming and @tarlanlotfizadeh on snaps as always appreciate ears on the work and hope people enjoy the music loose string woven returns the spirit to let the stillness in

night one: cement body, dreams concussed - beyn-na-beyn and guests at st martin in the fields processing these two evenings has been strange - it was beyond anything i imagined it could be grateful to the creatives who joined me in channelling the spirit of the work @cobysey @damsel.elysium @nattywhynot @jeanblairee @_emmalwarren_ thanks to @hayett.belarbi.mccarthy who set designed the space despite limitations cos of the venue, she made it look amazing and it really held us in the space thanks to @jasperdarius for sound and @joe_magowan for filming and my love @antgnikks for running the door and the merch and believing in me when i dont (putting up with my silly bullshit) big love and appreciation for everyone who came down and supported including my mum n dad - lucky to have parents who come and support me, despite the fact my dad looks far from impressed at the listening exercise in the last photo... thanks for the snaps - @ganeshalockhart

pt.4 friendship and knowing yourself growing up a brown kid in a northern village post-9/11 was not easy - what got me thru was music. ive been closing cirlces so want to acknowledge for myself how hard i worked + the pay off was beyond teenage dreams. moving to london imposter syndrome hit hard so i focussed on helping others with their art and now i am returning to my true creative self. i say all this to encourage people to follow their intuition and don't listen to the noise at sbc i wanted to open the doors for people + the final bits of work brought full circle my love of london and music EMP - was a year long program for young under-represented people in the music industry between @ninjatune @bigdadarecordings + @southbankcentre huge team effort between @_specimens_ @rosamurdoch @sophransby @beebeerenz - we wanted to nurture people in ways we didn't get a chance ourselves @secretsundaze - big shout to @jamesdpriestley - pleasure helping celebrate 20 years watching him discover new processes when i first got there it was my dream to bring @erykahbadu to the rfh - thanks to @noahballnoahballnoahball we pulled it off, it was special My last RFH show was sigur ros x lco - profound to book the debut of a 40 piece orchestral show of a band i was a fan of in me teens - pic of me pre-show looking like ive been on a heavy tour of booze n burgers…chunkylexy my last program at the venue was a full site takeover with @nicholas_daley an inspiring individual and all round golden egg. we birthed @woven_rhythms an intergenerational confluence of different cultures in london - coby sey talvin singh lucinda chua improvised set in the qeh, a talk with dennis bovell wulu delilah holiday pauline black hosted by zakia, @nubya_garcia + @nucivilisationorchestra - big ups gary and janine, and a club night with some of our fave sounds - ikonika @nabihahiqbal @sarrawild @dennisbovell @sherelle_ it was not an easy ride but i made friends i cherish, did some mad shit + learned so much snaps by @fabricebourgelle @petewoodhead selfie of me n my dad on the rfh stage - maybe one day ill be up there for real... big love and remember temper the ego, nurture the spirit

Sonic Repurposing Workshop: 𝘖𝘱𝘯𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘹 (𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘹) Last week’s workshop, led by sound artist Lexy Morvaridi at @gasworkslondon , invited participants to explore experimental and DIY approaches to the experience of sound. Responding to Tanat Teeradakorn’s exhibition 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘹, the workshop set to explore themes of repurposing, reinterpretation and reinvention through collective sampling and hybrid sounding. Thank you to all participants for their engagement and exchange, to @beynnabeyn for a wonderful running of the event, and to the Gasworks team for all the support. as we enter the spring its been 2 years since i quit to focus on my own work as an artist...so final 2 posts on my time @southbankcentre i was lucky to work on specialist shows - learning and collaborating with some great people so here are some highlights... post-pandemic we programmed weekend takeovers on the summer terrace with @nubya_garcia and @anoushkashankarofficial - the free work run by the public programming team is probs the best thing about the venue - big love to @yewa_banks @ruthieh29 and rest of the team some snippets here proper hacked the system with 2 shows in the qeh with the @lcorchestra @felix_djrum who performed a live set with an 18 piece orchestra the 2nd was @setfiretoloraine who performed her album Building Something Beautiful For Me reinterpreting the work of Julias Eastmen with a 15 piece orchestra - again stories in person on how to hack the system when the institution tells you no... myself and @rhoonestone inherited grace jones' meltdown from @bengiunsal and delivered it with an amazing team, some cracking stories you might hear from me in person.. My first RFH headline was @greenteapeng in the fest - this is the type of london audience i wanted to put in the venue and @honeydijon that week it went off @hollytblakey cowpuncher my ass x LCO big shout to @bentotty84 @alexanderos.world @ornellasalloum @gracejabbari and nathalie - this was a project started by bengi - i worked mad hard to make sure the final iteration would happen in the rfh with the lco - it was a mad show n score by mica levi was class working with @kaneanson to produce the genius that is @casisdead immersive experience/show DEADCORP - we may have nearly damaged the building but it was worth it for the bootleg merch and extermination chamber @pinksiifu gave us a pit in the qeh foyer, crowd was vibey and familiar - @anja.ngozi on the 1s n 2s, @goya.gumbani everyone stylised by @nicholas_daley - one of my fave nights i ever did cos i felt held by friends and community all of these shows would not have happened without production, event managers, producers, foh staff, cleaners, security, and admin peeps - big love to the collective work done by those unseen
