What happens when human experience becomes the new frontier of extraction and attention the ultimate commodity?
In his New Yorker essay, “Will the Humanities Survive Artificial Intelligence?“, D. Graham Burnett describes AI not simply as a tool, but as “a new kind of creature” entering the classroom. Rather than banning it, he chose to invite it in - asking students to spar with AI and reflect on what the encounter revealed about their own thinking. The result became one of the most profound moments of his teaching career.
Burnett argues that the defining struggle of our time is over attention itself. He calls for “attention activism”, a practices that help us reclaim agency in a world where focus is measured, monetised, and manipulated.
On Friday 6 March 2026, 8:00–9:30am AEDT, Graham joins Berry Liberman for a live conversation on what it means to stay discerning, creative, and human in the age of AI.

There is a deep and ancient truth we are rediscovering: we are not separate from nature; we are nature.
This is a paradigm we need to change in order to respond to the context we are in.
The Wisdom & Action Forum 2025 invites you to explore the theme We Are Nature. Building on our inaugural forum, this year’s discussions will delve into nature repair, conservation, and biodiversity—and how these acts of care ripple across every aspect of life: our communities, systems, and future.
This is a conversation about our humanity and the interconnectedness of all life.
Tickets are by application through the link in bio.
What does it mean to be a grounding presence within rising collective stress? How do we cultivate the capacity to stay centred when things around us feel chaotic?
In this conversation between Berry and Ariel Burger, they explored how healing and wholeness are fundamentally human desires, and the unique role spirituality can play in either fostering or hindering our journey toward regulation.

We’ve all heard the phrase ‘sharing is caring’ but what if we let it really mean something? Not just in our homes or communities, but in how we share our world with other species.
How might we reimagine our relationship with nature from one of dominance to one of sharing? What possibilities emerge when we see ourselves as part of nature rather than separate from it?

Have you ever noticed how the deepest moments in life often arrive wrapped in questions rather than answers?
In this episode of the Wisdom & Action podcast, we sit down with the remarkable Ariel Burger — author, teacher, artist and speaker at our very first W&A Forum — for a conversation that reminds us what it truly means to be human.
Why do we tend to shy away from the very depth and complexity we’re naturally drawn to? And how might joy be the surprising key to embracing life’s biggest questions? This exploration between Ariel and Berry is a gentle reminder that perhaps we’re all more equipped for meaning-making than we think.

Taking the conversation offline and into the stunning surrounds of Melbourne Zoo, Berry visited Jenny Gray, CEO of Zoos Victoria, to explore the nuances of compassionate conservation. As they explored the grounds together, Jenny shared her powerful perspective on moving beyond simple answers when it comes to protecting wildlife — challenging us to find deeper, braver solutions that honour the complexity and dignity of every living being.
“Is there a more compassionate way? Is there a better way? Let’s not just go to the easy black-and-white way.”
This is a conversation you won’t want to miss. Listen at the link in bio.
