Session One is now live. As part of The Future of Cities webinar series presented by Nature Based Cities and Small Giants Academy, “From Grey to Green: Building Cities That Breathe” explores how regeneration, adaptation and ecology can move from the margins of urban development to the centre of how we design cities. In this conversation, Rasmus Nørgaard (Home.Earth Denmark), Paul Hameister and Berry Liberman discuss: • Nature-led urban development • Designing cities as living systems • Long-term thinking in the built environment • What it means to build places that breathe Watch the full episode on YouTube or via the link in our bio: /watch?v=3QxIBCzb9io In collaboration with @smallgiants #NatureBasedCities #SmallGiantsAcademy #RegenerativeCities #BiophilicDesign#RegenerativeDevelopment

NBC Global Case Study BedZED Roof Gardens 🌿 📍 Wallington, UK At BedZED, access to nature isn’t an add-on—it’s embedded into how people live. Nearly every home includes a private green space, whether a ground-level garden or a “sky garden,” paired with a double-glazed conservatory—reinterpreting suburban qualities within a higher-density setting. From a Nature Based Cities perspective: • Integrating private green space supports everyday connection to nature • Sky gardens show how density and greenery can coexist • Passive design (like conservatories) reduces energy demand • Green elements are distributed, not isolated Projects like BedZED highlight a key NBC principle: urban density and nature are not opposites—they can be designed together. 🌿 Would you prefer a sky garden or a backyard? A new benchmark for nature-led development 🌿 @spyregroup Watts & Wright project has become Queensland’s first to achieve exemplary accreditation under the Nature Based Cities framework. But for the team, this wasn’t about chasing certification — it was about formalising what great design already looks like: deeper connection to landscape, better living experiences, and long-term value. The result? - Strong market performance above benchmarks - Growing buyer demand for nature-integrated design - More liveable, resilient homes Nature isn’t an add-on — it’s fundamental to how buildings perform and how people experience them. As frameworks like NBC gain traction, this is where the industry is heading. 🔗 Read more via @theurbandeveloper or the link in our bio #naturebasedcities #naturebaseddesign #sustainabledevelopment #propertydevelopment

Grow fresh fruit and vegetables right at home Developers and sustainability experts say this “sponge city” approach could transform suburbs into resilient, eco-friendly communities — while saving enough water to fill 82 Olympic swimming pools a year!
