—————— 🎉✨ What a year for the University of Bonn’s Physics Show! The year 2025 marked a record number of performances and brought us many new faces. We look forward to the coming year and wish everyone a happy new year 2026! 🎆🥳 In 2025, we performed 5 shows 35 times in total. That equates to 53 hours, 7,000 spectators, and over 450 live experiments. Two shows are brand new: “Zukunftsenergien – Zukunftsmusik?” was funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space and Wissenschaft im Dialog as part of Science Year 2025 – Energy of the Future. Ten members joined the physics show with the show “The Greatest Showdown.” We visited 13 beautiful cities, including Berlin, Dortmund, Krakow, Munich, and Warsaw. A total of over 50 members took part in the performances – most of them on a voluntary basis alongside their uni courses. Thanks to everyone who has supported us and made our work possible! ❤️ Every show involves a lot of work and a great deal of help from all the people you do and don’t see, both on and off stage. That is not something that can be taken for granted. —————— 📸 by Aaron Wrobel, Barbara Frommann, Volker Lannert, University of Warsaw, Krzysztof Magda, Mika Thein, Valerie Leu, Timo Poller, Leon Lenz. 🔎🗓️ 2025 was another busy year for the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin. As the year draws to a close, we take a look back at just some of the highlights of the last twelve months… 🌟 🇩🇪🇮🇪 Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Ministers & Tánaiste Simon Harris, Neale Richmond & Thomas Byrne from the @irishforeignministry visited Germany throughout the year, along with Ministers and representatives from other Irish Government Departments. They met with counterparts, attended international conferences, engaged with members of the Irish community and contributed to the strengthening & deepening of Irish-German relations. Ambassador Maeve Collins continued her official visits to Germany’s Federal States, with events and engagements across the country. 🎤🎭 The Embassy hosted a range of in-house events, whilst Irish culture proved a firm favourite, with sold out events marking Brigids Day, Bloomsday & Samhain, and exciting partnerships with @staatsoperberlin , @blnensemble and other renowned cultural institutions. Take a look at the carousel for further insights into the year gone by, & be sure to follow the Embassy across social media to keep up with what is to come in 2026!

In November, we brought the ART+SCIENCE SALON back to @berlinscienceweek for a sold-out event and our latest bit of post-disciplinary nonsense: A Séance for Science in an Era of Techno-Spiritualism🕯️ As your friendly resident mediums we were humbled to summon to the stage spirits from across art, culture, science, and technology. @allapopp , @asteamundsen , and Jasmine Erkan @borekbebek joined us to conjure the concepts of techno-spiritualism, discussing old gods in new clothes from AI to quantum tech, internet folklore, and the unholy priests and priestesses of a dark but dazzling digital age. Allapopp moves between XR, performance, and sound with a trans-Soviet, queer, migrant lens that treats technology as both tool and ritual space, and opened the evening with a collective tarot reading using cards Allapopp designed, providing an eerily perfect conversational architecture for what followed. Åste has spent twenty years collapsing the fourth wall until audiences forget they were ever meant to watch instead of inhabit. From lecturing at Central Saint Martins to pioneering the beloved Underground Piano Bar at @glastofest , she continues to revolutionise immersive storyworlds, inviting us into spaces we could never imagine alone. Jasmine investigates disinformation at @tactical_tech as a writer and researcher, exploring the political and cultural impacts of technology.  In her spare time, she blends technology and ritual, leading device blessing ceremonies, and the Mystical Tech Research Unit at @trust.support Berlin. The event was not recorded. Thanks to the @jazz_institut_berlin at @udkberlin students for giving us the spooky soundscape. Thanks to Christian Rauch and the Berlin Science Week team for letting us close the FORUM with something strange, playful and truly magic. And thanks most of all to the folks who showed up ready to summon something unexpected. Science and society may be in a heap of trouble, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find our way out dancing, singing, and screaming together. Our beautiful photos are by @oneillkt247 📸

Thrilled to share that my photograph of Lagos appears as the cover image for the November issue of Nature Cities. This connects directly to my recent work with brain health researchers, urban planners, geographers and artists who are collectively mapping the links between place, health and equity. I have long argued that photography is not only a tool for communication but also a form of data creation. Images record patterns, exposures and spatial structures that often remain invisible in conventional datasets. I've deepened my involvement in these interdisciplinary themes in 2025 through collaborations with leading researchers at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) at Trinity College Dublin, the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Berlin Science Week, reinforcing the idea that photography can support scientific understanding in a rigorous and valuable way. I am also grateful for the ongoing support of Code For Africa (CfA) and africanDRONE. Their commitment to public interest technology and evidence based storytelling has helped make this work possible and has strengthened the link between visual practice and research. One of my favorite metaphors (borrowed from Eyal Weizman, founder of Forensic Architecture) is that aerial photography reveals the scars of humanity written across the earth's surface. Seen from above, these scars show how political choices, economic structures and patterns of exposure shape the environments people live in and, ultimately, their health. Visual evidence from the air illuminates how place becomes biology and why confronting spatial inequality is essential for understanding the future of human health. The Nature family of journals has long set the standard for scientific rigor and global influence, and its engagement with these themes reflects how central questions of environment and equity have become in research today. This cover feels like another step forward in a growing connection between art and science. Link: https://lnkd.in/d8FZZPA4
