QUIET PILLS is officially out today! It is available on LP, cassette, and digitally through @bentorecords . This was a difficult record and I think some of the struggle can be heard. It began in early 2020 after touring with @thesocialstomach , at a high point, and was fleshed out and finished later during the low points of COVID. I won’t describe the record in detail, but someone recently described it as being “voyeuristic” and I think that’s accurate. I hope that’s how it feels. In this case, you are the voyeur. So don’t look away. Embrace your inner creep. Thanks to @_clamber_ (who did the AMAZING art and layout), @crystalquartez , @thesocialstomach , and Nicky Spiders for guiding me through this record and putting up with a ton of neurotic bullshit. Boathouse Experimental Studios RIP. One year ago Was our final show, unbeknownst to us. The mood was heavy but it ended up being one of the best shows of our two year run. Beyond intense performances from @fivepaw_nopaw , @crowey_pdx , and @tevlinband provided a much needed cathartic release from the anxiety of the moment. And brain scrambling electronic leaning sets from @alexandritepdx and Nuisance loosened up the crowd and lightened the mood. Not many photos or videos from this night unfortunately, as we were all trying to enjoy the moment. If you have any, please send them our way! Bento Records is happy to announce the digital release of CHIBI - MUFFIN for Bandcamp Friday (link in bio!) CHIBI is an ensemble comprised of various members of the Portland freak scene, featuring members of @thesocialstomach ,Electro-Kraken, and @body.shame . MUFFIN was originally released on cassette only back in September 2019 as a means to fund the then upcoming west coast tour for The Social Stomach and Body Shame. Since then it has continually bugged some of us that one of our favorite (at least, one of MY favorite) projects is completely unavailable online. After listening to it again recently, I felt compelled to float the idea of releasing it online to the other members. And thankfully, they agreed. We began all of this as a result of playing the What Is Noise Fest 2019 in Corvallis, OR as a one-off improv project. We were all psyched on the results, so we decided to keep it going, playing shows and recording as much as we could. MUFFIN is a completely improvised work, made on the spot as we gathered in the evenings of summer 2019, as a no-pressure, fun project for a group of friends to do before or after work and other obligations. What came out surprised all of us and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. - KN

Boathouse was the best thing we’ve ever done. We’re so happy we got to have a real place to play, even if for a little while. In a town where there aren’t a lot of places for noise and queer weirdo creativity, we had a wonderful spot for exactly two years. This is a tape that commemorates some of the many artists that made our lives better during that time. This comp is so special. Thanks to everyone who contributed. @body.shame organized it to tell a story, and we think it tells that story really well. Bandcamp is waiving their revenue cut this Friday, and we’re hoping to raise some funds with this tape! One portion of the proceeds will go to a documentary of the scene, filled with footage shot by @_clamber_ . The rest of the proceeds will go to @communitypowerpodspdx , because everyone needs music right now, and to make loud sounds, you need power! Gosh, it’s been a real blast being able to host so many amazing folks. We had a list of so many more that we couldn’t make shows for. This whole history is now more of a time capsule. How quickly things have changed.
