Three simple actions can help prevent window and balcony falls this summer: 🌞
1. Move furniture, plants, and boxes away from open windows - children can often climb before they can walk! 🎍 🛋
2. Install locks so windows cannot open more than 10cm wide. Screens keep bugs out, not children in. 🔒
3. Supervise young children near windows, decks, and balconies. Don’t underestimate a child’s mobility. 👶🏽

It’s sooooo satisfying to find a great parking spot!
Reserved parking spots are even better!
What are these heli pads for?
🚁 search & rescue calls
🚁 wildfire suppression
🚁 search & rescue training
🚁 park ranger use
🚁 conservation officer use
🚁 fish & wildlife use
🚁 film services
🚁 utility services
🚁 emergency services
🚁 charters & tours
These designated pads aren’t ✖️for tenting ⛺️, aren’t ✖️for camping 🏕 & aren’t ✖️for picnicking 🧺.
❓What about being (⛺️🧺🏕) ‘near or around’ these helicopter pads?
This also applies to the area around the pad itself too.
✖️⛺️🧺🏕 😴
A tent or other loose debris (🎒 🥾 🧢 🧥 ) can be just as ⚠️dangerous ⚠️ in the immediate area as it is on the pad itself.
As you plan to explore B.C., ⚠️ plan not to be on or near these designated helicopter pads ⚠️ .

On High Risk Driving Day, secondary students received reality-based education about the risks of impaired and high-risk driving, promoting safer choices and personal accountability.
Students rotated through six workshops and heard from health care professionals and emergency response teams. They took part in interactive activities such as how to use the jaws of life, mock 911 calls, fatal vision goggles, and recovery position demos. ICBC Road Safety Speaker Kevin Brooks delivered a powerful speech to end the informative day.
Thank you to the many people who organized this event:
Samantha Spetter, Victoria High School
Amelia Smit, Island Health (P.A.R.T.Y. Program)
Colleen Woodger, ICBC Road Safety
Cst. Gord McGee & Cst. Cody Lapierre, Victoria Police
Tara Gilroy-Scott, Victoria Police Crime Watch
Assistant Chief Steve Ellis, Victoria Firefighters
Shannon Windsor, BCEHS

BCEHS AW169 taking off from pad 18 at VGH, yesterday. These new @leonardo_company AW 169 helicopters have replaced the venerable Sikorsky S-76 birds for HEMS missions.
These things are fast, y'all. A couple of months ago, one went screaming over the house at 400ft, and about 360km/h making a direct line for BC Children's. Yes. I said a wee prayer for that one.
