It’s sooooo satisfying to find a great parking spot! Reserved parking spots are even better! What are these heli pads for? 🚁 search & rescue calls 🚁 wildfire suppression 🚁 search & rescue training 🚁 park ranger use 🚁 conservation officer use 🚁 fish & wildlife use 🚁 film services 🚁 utility services 🚁 emergency services 🚁 charters & tours These designated pads aren’t ✖️for tenting ⛺️, aren’t ✖️for camping 🏕 & aren’t ✖️for picnicking 🧺. ❓What about being (⛺️🧺🏕) ‘near or around’ these helicopter pads? This also applies to the area around the pad itself too. ✖️⛺️🧺🏕 😴 A tent or other loose debris (🎒 🥾 🧢 🧥 ) can be just as ⚠️dangerous ⚠️ in the immediate area as it is on the pad itself. As you plan to explore B.C., ⚠️ plan not to be on or near these designated helicopter pads ⚠️ . 📸 @clear_to_hoist #helicopter #camping #longweekend

Stretch it out before you head out 🥾 🦵 A few minutes of stretching can help hikers improve mobility, reduce soreness, and keep those trail legs happy. Your future knees will thank you 😉 📊 Lower extremity injury is the number 1 reason for search and rescue calls in BC. ⛑️ Everything you can do to reduce incidents (& severity of incidents) helps SAR! 💪 #hiker #injury #preventable #bcsar #bcadventuresmart 🎥 @thehike.co

Avalanche Canada is testing out their brand new app and they want your feedback! Next fall, they’ll be launching a new version of their app that makes it easier to find the information you need before you head into the mountains, and simpler to share what you saw out there. Before then, they’re giving you the chance to get a sneak peek and let them know what’s working for you and what’s not. Find out how to get it and give them feedback in Avalanche Canada’s bio. #avalanchecanada #bcadventuresmart

A serious reminder from this past wkd 🚨 Two hikers were seriously injured on Mount Brunswick after slipping on steep, icy terrain during descent. Even with microspikes and poles, the conditions required more advanced gear and training. SPRING HIKING can be tricky—snow and ice don’t just disappear, and a simple slip can have serious consequences. 👉 Before you go: ⚠️ Check conditions (not just distance or elevation) ⚒️ Match your gear to the terrain 🧠 Know your limits and make conservative decisions Hikers are the #1 group needing rescue in BC—most often due to injury, getting lost, or pushing beyond their abilities. ___________________________________ March 22, 2026 LBSAR @lionsbaysar Volunteers responded yesterday afternoon to a callout for two injured hikers on Mount Brunswick. While descending in a group of 14, one hiker fell 20m on steep terrain, a second hiker then lost footing and slid over 100m, stopping in a snow moat above a waterfall. The group had microspikes and poles, which were NOT SUFFICIENT for the icy spring conditions. The call came in at 1:40 PM and escalated to a mutual aid response with North Shore Rescue. A total of 22 SAR members responded, 5 from NSR and 17 from LBSAR. Due to the terrain, both patients were accessed via helicopter and technical rope systems. One was hoisted with support from an onboard physician, and the other was reached by inserted members. The remaining hikers were safely escorted out. Both patients were transported to hospital, one stable, one in critical condition. This incident highlights how terrain and snow conditions can quickly increase the consequences of a slip, especially during transitional spring conditions. In these conditions, mountaineering crampons and an ice axe, along with the training to use them for self-arrest, are required for safe travel. Lions Bay SAR extends a special thanks to North Shore Rescue, Talon Helicopters, BC Emergency Health Services, Lions Bay Fire Rescue, Squamish RCMP, and all supporting agencies for their assistance. ___________________________________ 🎥 @lionsbaysar @taloncopters #hiking #hiker #mountains #bcsar

@muskokafreerider quotes: “On February 28th we were enjoying some of the best conditions of the year. The day was epic but we got complacent and let our guard down.” “Luckily everything turned out alright but hopefully everyone can learn something from our situation. Watch the full video breakdown, get the training and stay sharp in the backcountry.” 📹 @snowblindproductions #snow #snowmobile #backcountry #avalanche #bcadventuresmart
