Only 4 days left till @photolondonfair ✨ Across Discovery Booth J02, 12 artists from Central and Eastern Europe and the diaspora come together through works shaped by family histories, migration, ritual, memory, folklore, and everyday life. Rather than presenting a single idea of “Eastern Europe”, the exhibition moves through many different perspectives and experiences — from grandmothers’ hands and inherited traditions to suburban landscapes, mythology, displacement, and personal archives. Together, the works reflect on what is carried across generations, borders, and changing political realities. 📸 Featuring work by Alexandra Joanna Baker @al3xba_art Diana Serban @battlegrounds19 Grupa Łono @grupalono Ksenia Kazintseva @essentialaspects @tinysassyspoon Laura Bivolaru @laura_bivolaru Magda Kuca @kuca_magda Maria Gvardeitseva @maria.gvard Marcelina Amelia @marcelinaamelia Michaela Nagyidaiová @michaelanagyidaiova Paulina Korobkiewicz @pakropka Vera Hadzhiyska @verahadzhiyska Zula Rabikowska @zula.ra Zsuzsanna Ida Papp @papp_ida_zsuzsanna Discovery Booth J02 13–17 May With special thanks to our sponsors @mickiewicz_institute and @acf_london #photolondon #rethinkingeasterneurope #contemporaryphotography

Only one week to go until @photolondonfair ✨ We’re excited to present the work of 12 artists at Discovery Booth J02, bringing together photography-led practices that explore migration, memory, identity, belonging, and post-socialist visual culture. Through analogue and digital photography, the presentation creates a dialogue around personal and collective histories. The works aim to challenge simplified narratives of “Eastern Europe” and opening space for more intimate and nuanced perspectives. To those who’ve just found their way to my little Instagram corner, welcome . To those who’ve been around for a while, your presence means more than you know . I’m Diana, a visual artist and photographer based in London, originally from a small town on the banks of the Danube in Romania. My work moves between the personal and the collective, the landscapes we inhabit, the objects we hold onto, the realities we shape around ourselves. I’m drawn to spaces that carry traces of other lives, and to the quiet friction between holding on and letting go. I’ve been quieter on here than I’d like outside of exhibition news, and I’m changing that. This year has already been a full one and there is more to come. I’d like to share more of it as it unfolds. The work, the process, the things I’m reading and looking at, the occasional behind the scenes of what it actually takes to make and show work. Does any of that sound like something you’d like to follow along with? If so, I’m glad you’re here 💙

A couple of weeks ago I had the joy of sharing work from my Time Capsule series at Battersea Arts Centre, as part of Maslenitsa, a festival of arts and culture from Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, organised by @izbaarts and curated by @essentialaspects and @margaliu . The private view on the 11th was the highlight — performances, reconnections with fellow @re.thinking.eastern.europe members, and the warmth of meeting new artists from across the region. It was a real pleasure to be part of this group of artists. March was a good month 🌿 Install and event shots by @pakropka and @aga_novak 🙏 Prints by @theprintspace Part-funded by @welcometowandsworth as part of London Borough of Culture Hosted by @batterseaartscentre

Join us this May at @photolondonfair where @re.thinking.eastern.europe presents a curated exhibition of 12 contemporary artists working across photography and expanded lens practices. The presentation brings together analogue and digital photography, archival material, and mixed-media works that engage with themes of migration, intergenerational memory, and cultural identity shaped in the aftermath of socialism. Through a range of approaches, from documentary to experimental, the exhibition reflects on how images can carry personal and collective histories, while opening new ways of seeing and understanding the region. Honoured to be part of this year’s @photolondonfair with @re.thinking.eastern.europe ✨ Rethinking Eastern Europe is a collective exploring ideas of the “Eastern Bloc,” challenging stereotypes and rethinking how the region is understood, shaped by experiences of migration, memory, and post-socialist identity. Hello friends, it’s been a while 😅 I am coming out of the late winter fog with some good news. I’m showing work from my ongoing Time Capsule series at Battersea Arts Centre this March, as part of @izbaarts ’ Maslenitsa Festival, a vibrant celebration rooted in Eastern European tradition, marking the close of winter and the arrival of spring. The exhibition brings together artists from across Central & Eastern Europe and Central Asia, co-curated by @margaritamakhanova and @tinysassyspoon . Expect multimedia work spanning installation, sculpture, painting, photography, performance, poetry and zines, alongside performances, talks, and family-friendly workshops. Time Capsule is set in my grandparents’ home in Southeast Romania and explores the stories held by objects and space, and what remains when the people we love are no longer there. I’m glad to be bringing this work into a space that feels so right for it, alongside a few of my @re.thinking.eastern.europe friends. If you’re in London and don’t have plans for this Wednesday (short notice, I know), free tickets are via link in bio, or just turn up 😬 Exhibition Dates: 9–13 March Opening times: 10am–6pm Private View: 11 March, 5–8pm, with live performances by exhibiting artists Location: Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill, London SW11 5TN Part-funded by Wandsworth Council as part of London Borough of Culture. @batterseaartscentre @welcometowandsworth @essentialaspects @boldmelloncollective @margaliu @tinysassyspoon
