It is with great sadness that we announce our final board meeting event. We have faced the loss of our funding that had allowed us to stay running, and to continue forwards, we are needing to reevaluate what we are capable of doing. With that being said, we are excited to host one last meeting at our indoor space. We are still gearing up for a summer of outdoor events, so don't worry — this isn't the total end for us, just in an indoor capacity.
We will be giving away climbing shoes. If you or a friend has ever wanted to get into climbing, come down and get sorted. The shoes will be free or by donation. There will be lots of gear for us to get rid of.
March 19, 6–9 PM | 1705 Venables St
The event will be black tie formal, as this is a funeral for our beloved climbing wall.
This can include images from past events, memories, art you submitted in the past or made at previous events. Share whatever you feel is balancing acts_

Mays’ love letter to Squamish
May had set out a dream to spend a long-term trip in Squamish, building community, independence, and gain experience trad climbing in our wonderful home base.
Creating space to develop kinship in a place like Squamish seemed surreal, but the kindness of community helped create one of the best summers ever.
Climbing wasn’t the only priority on this trip, but cooking meals, holding space, picking up groceries, watching salmon swim upstream, crying, laughing, dancing, loving, kissing, and connecting to the land with likeminded people took top tier
Every summer at Balancing Acts_ we love to sponsor a special individual and support them in expanding their outdoor climbing goals. This year in collaboration with @Arcteryx and @arcteryxacademy we nominated a dear friend to the program, @heyitsmayjay

May has been taking time working on Rise Outside and putting their personal goals to the side to find resources in diversifying the outdoors. Being able to spend time not just climbing, but connecting with the land and folks who love the area brought much needed excitement and motivation to keep living life.
With ongoing conversation and discussion, we at @balancingacts_ are grateful to have supported May in their summer adventure and learnt from them as much as they did from us.

Last weekend we hosted our annual event at the Arc’teryx climb academy @arcteryxacademy . This year we partnered with Walk Gently from @arcteryx and the Sníchim Foundation @thesnichimfoundation to provide a beautiful day of climbing and education.
We are eternally grateful to all the partners involved; the day consisted of nurturing an environment where everyone could climb in whatever capacity they desired. We learned about the land, our shared love for it, and how it loves us back.
Thank you to @Arcteryx and Walk Gently for bridging the gap and providing the opportunity. For more information on how to support the local Indigenous community of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) we urge you to check out @thesnichimfoundation for information.

Squamish is a special place, there are boundless ways to find love for the land. This year Balancing Acts_ has partnered with Arc’teryx’s Walk Gently & the Snichim Foundation to learn from Squamish Nation residents why the land is so special.
Join us for a two-part program as we take you on a stewardship walk and a collaborative outdoor bouldering session. We will be hosting an open session at the Clean Boulders section; all are welcome to attend.
The stewardship walk and shuttle-bus will only be able to prioritize 30 people. Thank you for understanding.
If you desire to attend, please be kind and bring good energy as we care to keep our footprint small.

Behind the design :
A few years ago we hosted a workshop in Toronto highlighting the inner city boulders located at Toronto Metropolitan University TMU.
These boulders were installed in the late 70s never with the intention for climbing, today a guide book has been established by a local community that found refuge during the COVID lockdowns. Finding nature in the inner city.
For this special project we worked with Toronto designer @ronanmcgee to design a shirt to highlight the history. Taking inspiration from Vivienne Westwoods MAN line and the university’s uniforms Ronan put together some amazing works comprised of the actual boulders.
Support for this project from @allriseoutdoors@arcteryx@bettergiftshop@dominguezcorporation@daughaus.cc@piagraham@badbetas
