Impossible Dreams, Pati Hill’s final novel, first published in 1976, has just been reissued by Daisy — now available in English and in a new French translation by Hill herself. Both a remarkable novel and a striking artist’s book, it captures Hill’s deadpan style as she follows Geneviève, a middle-aged housewife whose life slowly unravels after she falls in love with her neighbor, Dolly. On Friday 11th of April - 7 pm we are happy to present the first monograph of Bruno Pélassy: On this occasion, writer and publisher Baptiste Pinteaux offers a lecture retracing the genesis of his essay “The Pilgrim of Angkor.” In a subsequent talk, writer, educator, and exhibition organizer Elisa R. Linn will share insights from her ongoing research on “The Berlin Wall as a Condom.” The lectures will be followed by a conversation reflecting on Pélassy’s radical embrace of fragility and kitsch, his deliberate refusal to produce objects of permanence, and the resonances between his work and the paintings of Ull Hohn—some of which were previously shown in the group exhibition "Bruno Pélassy and the Order of the Starfish" and which are currently on view. April um 19 Uhr freuen wir uns, die erste Monografie von Bruno Pélassy zu präsentieren: Aus diesem Anlass hält der Schriftsteller und Verleger Baptiste Pinteaux einen Vortrag, in dem er die Entstehungsgeschichte seines Essays „Der Pilger von Angkor“ nachzeichnet. In einem anschließenden Beitrag wird die Schriftstellerin, Lehrende und Ausstellungsmacherin Elisa R. Linn Einblicke in ihre laufenden Recherchen zu „Die Berliner Mauer als Kondom“ geben. In einem gemeinsamen Gespräch wird anschließend Pélassys radikale Hinwendung zu Fragilität und Kitsch ebenso in den Blick genommen, wie seine bewusste Weigerung Objekte von Beständigkeit zu schaffen. Diskutiert werden zudem mögliche Resonanzen mit den Gemälden von Ull Hohn – Werke, von denen einige bereits in der Gruppenausstellung „Bruno Pélassy and the Order of the Starfish“ gezeigt wurden und derzeit bei uns zu sehen sind. Der Booklaunch findet in englischer Sprache statt. Freier Eintritt. Moderiert von Pia-Marie Remmers.
