Authority Collective hosts a semi-annual gathering to inspire conversation, connection and collective learning. The Visual Leadership Salon brings together photo editors, art directors, agents, and producers alongside photographers, filmmakers and others interested in visual leadership roles and working toward a better visual media industry. We call it a “salon” because Authority Collective’s programming centers discussion and workshopping solutions.
The event intentionally creates space for women and gender non-conforming people of color (who are often underrepresented in visual media leadership), while also welcoming all those interested in pursuing visual leadership roles.
We hope you can join us this year at the SF Chronicle

The image above is from an ongoing series: Phantasms of the Blue Sky, a meditation on journeying (diasporic, speculative, spiritual), entangling personal, collective and ancestral elements to transmute grief and alienation into spaces for healing. Throughout the series, allegorical compositions with layered elements weave fragmented stories into a fluid network of multitudes resisting nativism and xenophobia, while an accompanying flash fiction piece employs magical realism to honor our interconnected struggles.
Print is 16”x16”
Printed on heavyweight 260 gsm Luster paper

Hey everyone! 🐍🫶 This is Wendy Cubillo (@eonagapi ) taking over the @authoritycollective feed this week. So excited to connect with y’all & share more about myself, my work, and my upcoming solo exhibition titled ‘Chroma.’ Thank u @lasfotosproject for making this possible💌
In making statements through photography and journalism, Wendy Cubillo (b. East Los Angeles, California, 2004) tells stories related to identity, culture, and pride. She is a live music, event, and studio photographer, often combining the three to highlight self expression. Wendy has created a print and online platform named Eonagapi, showcasing local community creatives from music, fashion, art, and film. She was the recipient of the 2022 Youth Catalyst Award awarded by Las Fotos Project and the city of Los Angeles for actively disrupting mainstream media. Wendy strives to push the boundaries of photography by focusing on small details, culture, and complex emotions.
Looking forward to spending a week sharing behind the scenes, sneak peeks, and more on Chroma!💜
