Introducing a new generation of photographers! 📸
With support from the Getty Museum, eight students participated in a semester-long advanced workshop through Las Fotos Project, inspired by the Getty exhibition María Magdalena Campos-Pons: Behold. Each student spent a semester exploring themes of identity, memory, and ancestry, immersing themselves in Campos-Pons’s powerful body of work and reflecting on her 35+ years of artmaking and activism.
Through personalized mentorship, in-depth research, private gallery tours, and guidance from Campos-Pons herself, each student artist created final projects culminating in Como Somos: La Realidad, an exhibition at @altura.la (and a photo book)!
@LasFotosProject is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit that empowers young women and gender-expansive youth of color through photography.
