Very much got to live the fantasy of being the fifth member of @x_cetra this past week at @sxsw 💜🦋🪩
About a year ago I got a random text from @aydenmayeri asking if I’d be interested in working on a doc about her band X-Cetra (thank u @jnaugz for the rec!!). From the emoji choices in the message ALONE I knew that this whole thing was going to be extremely up my alley—and it turned out to be the most rewarding & collaborative editing experience I’ve had.
It’s not often that you get to work on 1 film that has both a unique music industry success story PLUS an extremely personal friendship arc between 4 women who grew up together, learning how to come back to themselves. This movie is everything I love about documentary + cinema + life all wrapped into one💌
Can’t wait to watch the journey that this film will take now that it’s had its first audiences!! LONG LIVE X-CETRA 💋

about this time last year i decided i really wanted to start directing again in addition to editing, but was super lost as to what i could do within a reasonable timeframe (and budget lol). coincidentally, i had also recently started recording my own music (with the help of my very own personal jack antonoff @hunterclivingston ), which led me to the conclusion…why don’t i just make a video for my own song?? AND SO. that is exactly what i have done❤️
i’ll be releasing my first self directed and edited and recorded song on july 11th starring @avreyovard 🫶 called ‘death of the scene.’
