Hello! Introducing athomeluca 🏠 My dear friend Nishla (@nishlasmith ) came up with this name almost instantly, it encapsulates the idea that I’m mostly myself at home. And home is where you’ll find me most. For me, it’s a place where I curate imaginative spaces full of stories, life and theatre. It’s the place where I intimately arrange the things I collect and adore. I’m looking forward to having this digital space to archive all this, and I wonder what forms it will take. Thanks for following along 🔎 Oh and yes, for this first post I’m taking us back to some winter festivities - this was the Christmas breakfast table. I have been continuing to deep winter dress the house so for me this is still very current ❄️ This will also be a place for me to share my collection of art pieces, and in this pic you’ll find teapot by @_joe_hartley #interiordesign #tabledressing #homedecor #stockporthome #moderntraditional #moderntraditionalhome #contemporarytraditional

A view of this little painting/drawing against the side of the first steps. It draws on our location at the base of the humble Werneth Low, and being in a more rural environment than I’ve ever been in my life! Also featuring our new door curtain that’s continuing to help with keeping warmth in during these colder windy snaps 🌬️

A recent project - transforming our bed into the most romantic, Tudor-esque four poster masterpiece. 🌹 This is all theatre. It’s all prop and no substance but it’s perfect. The frame is made from heavy duty pvc plumbers piping with nifty 3 way elbow joints all sprayed the same paprika colour as our second hand bed frame. We then got a cracking deal on some powder blue curtains to match the bed blanket (actually an old door curtain from Stockport vintage market bought years ago). We basically did it all under £80! The bed has ultimately been built for us to hang our wedding knot, which was created as part of our ceremony with our loved ones. Hopeless romantic all round. ♥️ Keep reading for musings on the irony of rich historic interiors in a home like ours… I’m thinking a lot at the moment about this ‘faux royalty’ historic aesthetic and where the obsession comes from as a working class person now lucky enough to be able to indulge in my own home. The home has humble working class routes, but it’s now filled with an ironic grandeur. Transformation and roleplay is inherent here, I wonder if it’s an inevitable working class attempt at social mobility, something more humorous and self aware, or just a harmless hangover of the way in which early modern history is dominated by those regal figures who were able to document themselves in a way that others couldn’t. I watched Wuthering Heights yesterday and it all played into these thoughts… I indulged so much in the aesthetic, but it was all slightly tainted afterwards to learn about the missed opportunities to address class and race in the film. I’m unsure of where I’m landing here, it’s just a live conversation. I’m also reading about the classism in folk collecting, and I like to think we’re in a world now where the true folk can step in and make bold statements.

January deep-Winter house dressing 🪽🩶 After the Christmas decs come down, often aligning with the first snow of the year, I like to re-dress the house a little for deep-winter. For the past 2 years the main focus has been these tin birds dancing over the dining table, inspired by some similar birds I saw in a church made by some Sunday school kids. It’s silver and white (refreshing, rejuvenating and resembling the cold outside) and birds (hopeful symbol, an encouragement to aim high in the new year!) This year I also did a little more tin embossing and created some spiral decorations for the fireplace out of the edges of tin foil trays 🖇️🖇️🖇️ wonder if deep-winter dressing could catch on?

To celebrate the new year, here are 5 of my favourite things from around the house that I found/purchased in 2025 ♥️ Here’s to a 2026 with more rummaging on car boots and payment plans for artwork 😂 1. I can’t tell you what this is. I found it on a car boot sale and had to have it. The guy on the car boot told me it was probably an antique crib/cot but with further investigation it is likely a version of a Victorian book/magazine trough - although to me this is also pretty unlikely as it’s missing many of the features and is caged on all sides. If anyone has any ideas lmk!!! Either way I had to have it… I just love the acorn finials motif around the top. 2. ‘Arms’ painting by @urunwa_art - I discovered Chidimma’s work in 2025 and I’m obsessed 😍 3. Garlic pot by @pascal.nichols that we purchased at a studio sale. It’s so bulbous and extra. 4. Metal serving tray found at Pear Mill for £15! It’s got a great studded detail around the rim. Unsure on more info about it as of yet. This pic was taken after hoarding apples around the house for my wedding 5. A little ceramic red knob/hook from @_display_only that’s added a bit of something to an otherwise boring sliding door in the kitchen ✨ Happy new year from my home to yours 🪽

Some Christmas scenes. ♥️ So unbelievably grateful for my home and my family. If someone had told me this would be my world 4 years ago I’d have been flabbergasted and elated in equal measure. So much appreciation. We reused the red fabric and select candlesticks from the wedding and combined flowers from different bunches I’d received for my birthday into festive arrangements. And yes that is our kitten girls having their Christmas lunch together ♥️♥️♥️ Seasons greetings ! 🔥

Christmas and cats - the two best things imo 🎄 Our tree is a dried tree from a few years ago that has been ribbon-wrapped and steadily gets more sculptural each year. Folky fun.

Last week I married the person who inspires me most. It’s not that I couldn’t create without him - but he is prouder, more encouraging and most excited by the things I create than anyone I’ve ever met and it makes it all so, so much more pleasurable. Our wedding became a chance to indulge in our creativity, building our ideas into an event that contained an essence of the shared culture we’ve built together in just a few years. Here are a few pictures of the creations and setting of the party. I painted a series of pomegranate paintings to hang amongst us all, the main one of which will hang in our home together and remind us of such a lovely celebration, and the rest are now in homes of those who helped us most in the creation of the day - thank you, you know who you are!♥️ A HUGE thanks to @brukunderbank @eve_cox for hosting the party, and allowing me creative freedom with the space. It was a dream come true! Thank you to @still.life.story @rubyfriel @rebecca_higginbottom for the absolute flower MAGIC. ✨ and thank you to @sweetagnesbakes for the cake of dreams ♥️🍇 And as ever, thanks to red - for never letting me down♥️🌹 Last 3 photos by the wonderful @sepulvedafialho 😍- more wedding photos to come (sorry not sorry!!!)

This spot very rarely looks like this as it’s the heart of our house, but when it does it’s calm and divine :) Featuring the most perfectly coordinating plates from @still.life.story alongside @maegenhomeware napkins and my favourite @merciparis eccentric cutlery ♥️ (forks are flames)🔥

A coupla bathroom shots - this one is Polly’s favourite room in the house 😻 It’s only really had a face lift but I’m buzzing with what can be achieved with some tile paint, coloured grout, new taps and shabbily upcycled furniture!! 🚰 swipe to the end to see how it began The artwork is by me (@luca.visual ) along with the birds on the upcycled cabinet drawer. The stool is from Pear Mill, and the cute lil door hook from Stockport Vintage Village! It’s really calm in here, and that was the ultimate aim 🕊️🫧 #artisthouse #artisthouseuk #bathroomupgrade #colourfulhome #colourfulhouse #colourfulinteriors #colourfulinteriordesign

We recently got new windows and it’s been a game changer!! Considering we had no choice but to invest (indebt ourselves) in new windows as the windows were over 40 years old and blown when we bought the house, we decided to do it nicely and go for some that really compliment the age of the house. We’re so glad we did! We went for a fairly local company called Seamless Windows and would recommend! 💎 We now get to enjoy the evening light from the front and admire the perfectly colour coordinating acer in next door’s front garden from the bed #stockporthome #colourfulintereriors #interiordesign #artisthouse #arthome #traditionalmoderninteriors #astragalbars
