WORKSHOP: VASANTHA YOGANANTHAN Vasantha Yogananthan Marseille 29 June - 03 July “The deeper I get into the project, the clearer my vision becomes” For the past three years ArtFotoMode has collaborated with Vasantha to develop these 5-day workshops. Participating photographers are encouraged to develop a more nuanced and sensitive approach to their visual sensibilities, and to gain a greater awareness of lyrical realism and a post documentary understanding of the genre. WORKSHOP: PAUL ROUSTEAU ArtFotoMode is pleased to announce an immersive workshop with Paul Rousteau Photographing Paris: building a vision and a series Paris is not approached here as a subject to illustrate. It is a field for personal work. This workshop is designed for photographers who want to move beyond producing isolated images and instead build a clear direction and a coherent series. WORKSHOP: STEFANIE MOSHAMMER **deadline 14 April** Stefanie Moshammer Berlin. 04-08 May The Accidental Narrative: The workshop invites participants to develop a nuanced and multi-layered narrative, shaped by a title that does not come from themselves, but from another participant. Through a random pick on the first day, each person receives someone else’s title, combined with a visual, an anonymous fragment from another mind. This moment of chance becomes the catalyst: an unexpected starting point that disrupts familiar patterns and opens new narrative pathways. Along with sharing his own work, Alec Soth will lead group critiques and meet with participants individually. Topics discussed will be narrative, sequencing, text, and distribution through publishing, exhibitions, and performance. Special emphasis will be given to creative roadblocks. Participants will be given assignments and exercises that help them expand the boundaries of their practice. WORKSHOP: VASANTHA YOGANANTHAN ArtFotoMode is pleased announce a workshop in Marseille with Vasantha Yogananthan. This will be the third consecutive AFM workshop with this artistically nuanced and skilful photographer. Always a productive and enjoyable time at his atelier in the warmth of the summer. The participants to this workshop will be invited to think about new ways one can translate one’s experience with reality into a sequence of pictures. You will be invited to photograph in Marseille according to a set of parameters we will decide together — in order for you to lose these very ideas en route while making work. On the one hand a good series of pictures happens when one is pursuing something very clearly but on the other hand it is only truly successful when one realises that the things one was not looking for matter just as much. If one learns how to listen and to look at the essence of things with clarity then reality has the potential to become stranger than fiction.
