Jesus what a Year. Thankfulllllllll🤯
Four years ago marked one of the biggest shifts in my life. Thank you @julius_miller@lamag for allowing me such a wide open welcome space to tell my tale and writing it so eloquently. The past few weeks have felt surreal to say the least, as of August 21, 2022, Brett Fonfa Foundation is an official non profit organization 🥹 Make sure to follow @thisisthebff to stay up to date with all future shows and programming! Check out the full article in my bio💜
Art has guided me through my healing process, provided me an escape from this reality, taught me discipline that empowers my self love journey, challenged me with lessons that has furthered my potential, given me a community I always wished for and blessed me with a comfortableness in my unique self that I had years of trouble blossoming into.
My big brother, Brett Isaac Fonfa, was a Renaissance Man, a natural born leader that truly made anyone feel like they could do anything. His undoubted confidence in his creative expression is easily one of the most inspiring and memorable parts about him, he was a true artist. Having just a hand in creating a legacy that will provide creative opportunities and resources for generations to come is more than a dream and to be able to do it all in my brothers name is truly the greatest honor.
Could not do any of this without my hard working magical team and of course the support and love from my amazing family, so grateful for all of you. Said this before but wholeheartedly believe it: Artists will go further with the support from one another!

Happy Mother’s Day to my best friend and my greatest cheerleader, my beautiful MAMA🥹💜 I am truly lucky to have someone as caring, loving and supportive as you for a mom. Thank you for everything you do and all you have taught me, your strength and love carries our family. Hope you enjoy your special day, my special mommy 🦋
Sending love to all the mommies out here and to those whose mommy is watching over you now, you are eternally love and blessed… nothing like a mother’s love 👆
35 years ago today a legend was born and lives on through us all. Happy Brett Fonfa Day! 💜💜💜
It’s difficult to describe, let alone fully comprehend, how special of a person he was. But for those who were lucky enough to experience his magic in the physical, you can attest to the absolutely remarkable human he was. He cared so deeply and lived life so intentionally. His true love for life and knowledge, and his willingness to share his passions, imprinted on each person that crossed his path.
When he was interested in something he would be able to teach you anything about it. A gifted writer, musician, movie buff, hype beast collector, chef, the list goes on.. he always lived to develop his own identity and ideas, his brain was consistently used to the fullest extent. What a blessing and lesson we can all learn from.
Big shoutout to Coachella, a very special place where wherever we were in the world our friends and family would unite, under the powerful love of music and art. Bretty was our leader and still lives there today. Know he was dancing with y’all these past weekends! And huge thank you to Paul for painting those Fonfa signs at Coachella.
We love you Bretty!!!!🦋

It is wild to think an idea that popped into my 21 year old brain has amounted into this incredible movement 8 strong and counting years later. It was bittersweet celebrating 8 years, as it’s also been 8 years since my big brother Bretty passed. Time really flies but I continue to feel him so present especially amongst these loving rooms.
There is truly a sense of pure magic that amounts when creatives our brought together, that infectious energy and encompassing love forever inspires and drives me to continue doing this work that is so needed. It has never been easy but in these unthinkable times when freedom and identity continue to be stripped away from so many, there is truly nothing more important to me than providing and expanding this access. How privileged we all were to gather and celebrate each other if just for a moment, the world forever will be a better place with the arts being the first and foremost healing force. 💜
Special Thanks

HERvolution Over the Years 🧚♀️
Since 2017, I’ve felt a deep undeniable calling to create access and opportunity for all artists, especially women and marginalized voices. In 2018, this vision became reality with my first exhibition featuring over 20 incredible women.
Just weeks later, my big brother Bretty left this physical world but I’m forever grateful he witnessed the beginning. I had already been planning our first HERstory, and it felt only natural, and profoundly healing, to continue this work with his spirit and love driving me.
In 2019, Debbie Allen joined our mission, helping reestablish HERstory in partnership with Debbie Allen Dance Academy, now today at the Rhimes Performing Arts Center. Her continued support has helped us grow in ways I once only imagined. What began in a somewhat dingy downtown LA warehouse has evolved into a movement, showcasing hundreds of women artists and welcoming thousands of attendees.
Join us March 8, 2026 — a day that used to live on infamy marking Brett’s 8-year anniversary, now lives in as a celebration of remembrance, light, and the power of community. 💜
Tickets are currently 2 for 1 until 3/1!!! Grab em while you still can (link in bio)

✨ Art. Legacy. Community.✨📸🏀
Yesterday, we officially welcomed Reach for the Stars: The Art of Basketball’s Golden Era with a beautiful opening reception. Guests enjoyed an engaging talkback with NBA All-Star Norm Nixon alongside photographer Malek Abdul-Mansour, whose powerful work anchors this exhibition. @nbaalumni
From the energy in the room to the incredible Jamaican cuisine, wine, and shared conversation, the afternoon was filled with community and creativity. We had a special performance by the Sons of DADA under the direction of @karenmcdonald_dance
Thank you to everyone who came out to support, celebrate, and invest in the arts. The exhibition will remain on view throughout the summer. Please stop by and experience it when you can.
Proceeds from all print sales directly support the programs and scholarships at #DADA
