The finished slat tree, fully installed at UNCLE Leeds 🌳
This piece brings together a sculptural timber tree, glowing globe lights and a circular bench to create a warm central feature for the space.
A big thank you to George Singer Studio @georgesingerstudio , who brought us into the project and acted as collaborator and curator on the piece.

Installed at UNCLE Leeds 🌳✨
A look behind the scenes at the making and installation of our illuminated slat tree and circular bench for @uncle_living Leeds.
Built from a steel internal structure, layered timber forms, individually fitted slats, integrated lighting and a bespoke circular bench, the piece has been designed as both a sculptural focal point and a place to gather.
These photos show some of the production and install process — from the timber cladding and bench detailing through to the final lighting tests on site.
More photos coming soon showing the finished piece in its new home.

Huge congratulations to Marguerite Humeau on being shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2026.
We’re thrilled to see Marguerite recognised for her extraordinary work and vision. It feels like a perfect moment to look back at our past collaborations. Pictured is Unrooted, a project we were proud to help realise from carved Walnut and steel.
Working with Marguerite is always a deeply inspiring process — ambitious, imaginative and technically demanding in all the best ways. Congratulations Marguerite, and to all of this year’s nominees.

Serpentine Currents-Fragments of a Changing Future, on view until April 26th @somersethouse « My interest began during a research residency at the Natural History Museum in Paris @le_museum , where I was working closely with scientists studying the hydrodynamics of snakes. It was fascinating to observe how sea snakes move - their efficiency, elegance and adaptability. From there, l became interested in their ecological importance and vulnerability. Sea snakes are often misunderstood, yet they are vital to marine ecosystems, which made them a powerful subject through which to talk about conservation and beauty. » Video by @phoenixtanner and @artandassembly
We’ve been quiet online.
Very busy in the studio.

Continuing our series on finely crafted wooden furniture: a small English Pear side table shaped with a quiet, deliberate fragility.
In this piece, we orchestrated the meeting of three distinct materials — Pear, sand-cast bronze, and Rainforest marble — each bringing its own texture and weight. The timber is carved back to the edge of its strength, giving the form a poised fragility, while the stone anchors it with contrast. Together they create a composition of gesture and movement.

This week we’re diving into the quiet battles and small triumphs that happen at the workbench, with a series dedicated to the fine wood furniture we've crafted over the years.
These are objects that pushed us, taught us, and reminded us why we keep returning to this material.
Wood is stubborn, alive, unpredictable. It moves, twists, resists, and occasionally rewards you with moments of absolute clarity. Working with it—especially when the brief is unconventional—is a conversation, not a command.
First up: this sculptural cabinet in pear wood. Stepped geometry, tight grain, complex angled joinery, and a façade where every line threads across drawers and doors with surgical precision.
More pieces coming throughout the week—each one a story of material, craft, and the odd bit of madness required to put objects with lasting presence out into the world.

A strange and powerful presence moved through the workshop recently...
...our collaboration with the remarkable @annaperach on giving internal structure and stance to her sculpture Baba Yaga.
Anna hand–tufted the form from yarn and artificial hair, building a tactile skin with mythic charge. Now in the collection of curator Marcelle Joseph, the work draws from the folkloric figure of Baba Yaga — a being who lives at the edge of the forest, outside of social expectation.
Feared for her solitude and autonomy, often depicted as an ‘ugly hag,’ Baba Yaga refuses to shape herself around others’ desires. She lives in nature, commands the elements, and chooses her responses based on the honesty and intention of those who approach her: to some she offers fortune and protection, to others, ruin.
In Anna’s words, “She is a matriarch — self-sustained and powerful.”

A new place to pause in the heart of Midsomer Norton. Designed and crafted by Art & Assembly.
This curved Oak and Bronze bench forms part of the town centre revitalisation.
Each slat was steam-bent from solid oak, shaped to follow the natural arc of the stone wall beneath. The arms were sand-cast in bronze, giving weight, durability and warmth against touch.
We wanted the bench to feel rooted here — not an object dropped in place, but something grown from the fabric of the town. A seat to gather, rest, meet, watch the day go by, but never static.

BORDER II (2025) / Samuel Ross
Volcanic ash, Portland cement, crushed marble, powder-coated steel, oak
Fabricated by Art & Assembly
BORDER II continues Ross’s exploration of boundary, movement, and cohesion through industrial materials and urgent form.
Referencing public monuments, bollards, and urban thresholds, the work reflects on restriction, refuge, and the lived experience of diaspora.
Following the CAUCUS bench (Fabricated for Design Miami Paris), Ross again draws on brutalism and street vernacular to confront themes of class, displacement, and connection — rendered here in fractured stone, wood volcanic ash, and fatigued steel.
