Obligatory selfie so the algorithm serves this to you. After leaving my job of 12 years and taking a few months off music writing, this past week I finally (re)launched my own "blog," Futureproofing. I'm happy to be able to write about music on my own terms again, and do it with some of the people I most admire in the music industry, including launching with a mix from Peverelist. The URL is easy to remember: andrewryce.substack.com (link also in bio).
Futureproofing will update about once a week, with a rotating selection of interviews, profiles, retrospectives and reviews. It will be heavy on electronic music, but not confined to that. I'd of course be very grateful for your support if you can swing it, and if you can't, I hope you enjoy reading anyways.
Today marks the end of over 12 years working at @resident_advisor (exactly 14 if you count part-time). It's pretty much the only job I've ever had, and took up my entire adult life so far. It took me all around the world and made so many amazing, enduring friendships, all in the name of music, which has always been my passion. I spend enough time writing all day so I'm keeping this short, but thank you to everyone who ever read any of my stuff, and to everyone I met along the way.
P.S. I am not retiring, I will still write about music and other things.
P.P.S. Pic is from Osea Island, Essex in 2014, when @maj_kristiansen valiantly kept me from falling into the bonfire. And I broke my toe somehow. Big RA vibes.
