I have been fortunate to be raised by a teacher, a professor, where the mastery of teaching happened continuously often beyond the walls of the classroom reaching everyone, leaving something behind even unknowingly, without asking for it, yet it remained.

Last Saturday I was truly pleased to have had the chance to meet and have a long chat with Edi Hila.
This fifth solo exhibition at the gallery of Edi Hila (born in 1944 in Shkodër, Albania), a major figure in the Albanian and European art scene. Through a series of new works, the artist continues his exploration of the relationship between memory, architecture, and perception, placing painting at the intersection of the real and the symbolic.

Throughout the evening, he will the public through a selection of projects, personal reflections, and collaborations, framing architecture as a civic structure for collective life.
The conversation will explore cities, development, architecture, design, education, building culture, and the shared inspirations that shape them, including music.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Marva Griffin, widely considered the “Godmother of Design.”
For more than 25 years she has created and led SaloneSatellite, the legendary platform that has discovered and supported hundreds of young designers from around the world, giving a voice and an opportunity to new generations of creators.
It is always inspiring to meet people who have not only shaped projects, but have created opportunities and communities.

A privileged cultural experience at the Vitra Campus

Back in Albania after a day at the Vitra Campus, the experience feels even more meaningful. Walking through Frank Gehry’s museum just days after his passing carried a quiet intensity — a reminder of the courage and joy he brought to architecture.
I went to Weil am Rhein to revisit works I have long admired:
Zaha Hadid’s fearless Fire Station, Ando’s meditative concrete, SANAA’s lightness, Siza’s calm precision, Grimshaw’s structure, Herzog & de Meuron’s crafted materials, and the new Doshi Retreat shaped like a folded landscape.
Seen together, these buildings reveal something essential: architecture is not only about function, but about emotion, imagination, and the courage to stand for an idea.
Every architect speaks differently:
Ando in silence,
SANAA in purity,
Siza in restraint,
Zaha in movement,
Doshi in humanity,
Herzog & de Meuron in material truth.
I return home grateful and inspired — still learning, always curious.
