🔥Lightsource🔥Such an honour to bring this to life in Colchester, one of the towns where many Witch trials happened under the jurisdiction of Matthew Hopkins leading to several of the accused to be hung. The skirt is bigger than rooms I’ve lived in and the names of those killed in Witch Trials are embroidered in my blood on the skirt.

Light Source brings light to lost histories of persecuted people- primarily women, and honours them. It explores and expands the use of body performance techniques and contextualises them within the practice of queer people and women, creating a space to share these techniques & histories.

The incredibly stunning Italian movie star Silvana Mangano was BOTD in 1930 and died in 1989 at the age of 59. She started out as a beauty queen, had a heavy romance with Marcello Mastroianni, and ended up working with Pasolini and Visconti! She was also married to film producer Dino De Laurentiis and had four children with him. She is cruelly stoned to death by an angry mob in a disturbing scene in Richard Fleischer’s brilliant epic “Barrabas” (1961). One of her best performances is in the comedy omnibus film “Le Streghe” (“The Witches”)(1967) in which she appears in five short films directed by Visconti, Rossi, Pasolini, Bolognini, and de Sica. She’s amazing as the deaf new bride in Pasolini’s segment, “The Earth Seen From the Moon” (1967). She is perhaps at her most compelling in Pasolini’s “Teorema” (1968). My latest movie “The Visitor” (2025) is a re-imagining of “Teorema,” with a bit of “Porcile” and “Salo” thrown in. The Mangano role is played by the amazing @amykingsmill

I stepped out into the studios, the disco, the blood and the cheering to cry tears of blood. These intimate spaced to create shared ritual, unity, share, release + care was truely radical especially between different artists from around the world. Huge thank you to my queer fam and my lil sis and my Mind support worker who have got me back on my feet after my unfair dismissal, my breakdown and my return to work. Piercings @ouch_tatu
