Spring has Sprung, and I’m loving the cool air mixed with bright sunshine and pops of colours… Gardening in my backyard grounds me, amidst all the daily chaos in the world right now, and has reminded me that five years have passed already since lockdown. Harris. Congratulations to creator/E.P. Pilar Golden, the fabulous producers at Sinking Ship Entertainment, the absolutely outstanding cast and the very hard working crew. You were all a force of nature!!! Fond memories of lunching with the absolutely fabulous lighting team led by Stepan Sivko; collaborating with the phenomenal stunt team, horse wranglers and beautiful horses; laughter in the DIT tent with scripty Joanne Harwood; incredible shared prep meals & swims with my Block 2 team director Alison Reid and 1st AD Aline Robichaud; weekend adventures staying in yurts, glamping tents and boats; and of course karaoke, casino, beach and boating weekend outings with the Belgian & Canadian crew. Dear Tiffany’s... you have no idea how many times I walked by your window display on Burrard Street from the onset of the pandemic until June 2nd, when rightly so, on Black Out Tuesday, you changed window displays. 🤍 L.O.V.E. 🤍 🤍 L.O.V.E. 🤍 🤍 L.O.V.E. 🤍 Every time, I stood there in the middle of those dark desolate streets in the night, staring only at these letters in the periodic table, and my own reflection. Everything always blurred, and moved in slow motion, despite the stillness. I thought I was standing still, however it felt in those frozen moments like I could feel the earth turning slowly. I could feel the heartbeat of the world as everyone was being torn physically apart into lockdown and isolation from an invisible threat. I cried deeply for the state of the world, and each tear broke my heart open more. To love myself more. To love my friends and family more. To love strangers more. To love animals more. To love the planet more. This window display always caused me to look deeper inside myself to find love and strength even when I thought it didn’t exist anymore. Sometimes the lowest lows have to crack you severely open in order to discover the highest highs and deepest love. This experience served to remind me that in every uncertain moment, you can create and find lovelovelove... That moment I saw L.O.V.E. was no longer in the window, I panicked internally and wanted to run, as I began to rely on this frozen/spinning moment as a form of meditation, however the lessons of those early Pandemic months taught me to stand firmly, strongly and move forward with uncertainty, curiosity and an open heart. When I saw the new window display was in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, my heart thanked you, yet again.
