It starts with a nugget, the smallest idea, and at some point, after many moments of self-doubt, you’ve finally created a world you can be proud of. For writers, we are vulnerable beings, sharing these worlds with studios, networks, fellow writers, actors, directors, location managers, designers, and the list goes on. Here’s the thing, it’s HARD. Being vulnerable. But…we do it because we cannot build without other talented (and vulnerable) humans whose art is immeasurable and absolutely necessary to bring your world to the screen. To that, a big thank you to the @canadianscreenacademy for recognizing @karaharuncreative@cherylmeyerwrites@aliciakharris_ and @amybelling for their achievements in writing, directing, and cinematography. And a big congratulations to the producing team for taking home a CSA for Best Youth Series. I am so proud of my nugget. Here’s to more stories told by, acted by, designed by, directed by…Black women.
I am beyond honored to be nominated for a CSA award for Beyond Black Beauty. This nomination means more to me than I could ever put into words. It’s not just about recognition, but about the incredible journey that this show took me on.
From the very first day, I knew this project would be special. Working with such a talented and passionate team, especially the producers, has been a truly inspiring experience. Beyond Black Beauty has been a space for deep conversations, powerful storytelling, and most importantly, a celebration of the beauty that exists in our diverse experiences and identities.
Being a part of this show has allowed me to see the power of representation in a way I’ve never experienced before. It’s not just about makeup and glamour; it’s about telling stories that matter, stories that bring us closer to understanding and empathy.
A huge thank you to the producers and everyone involved in making this show a reality. I’m grateful to have been part of something that is truly impactful. Whether or not we win, the journey itself has been a gift, and for that, I am deeply thankful.

Take 2. No one is surprised that I fumbled that first post. Anyhoots! As I was saying, this is just a small part of the massive village that brought @beyondblackbeautytv to life. Yesterday night we got to see the premiere of @beyondblackbeautytv which airs today in the US on @amazonprime . It was very emotional to see all of our work come to life on screen and that Q&A killed me. Thank you for taking us on this journey @goldenrites . Now everyone go stream it pls 🤣

I get to create with the most magical team. They are brilliant, supportive, and incredibly funny. No lies, showrunning is not easy, but boy am I lucky to have these beautiful people by my side.
